Started new thread last night, and used the term "Obama-fied"...went to check for response posts, and the thread was gone. I then pulled the original "post new thread" page by backing up to it, and found "invalid response-contact administrator" by clicking the link. Wouldn't the mods typically send an email to the OP on a thread/post that was yanked for being possibly insensitive?

I'm just trying to understand the "why" in this case...thanks in advance.

LMFAO Now that's some funny **** right there... I think it's safe to say you will NEVER get a personal message from the mod who dumps a post. In fact in almost all cases that mod will never even admit to being the one who did it or post a reason. You used the "O" word. One of them decided that made it "political" in nature and that's against the rules. There are some great mods here who have a hard job that they do for free just because they love this place and I commend them. There are also a couple who are VERY heavy handed on the delete button for whatever reason, power trip, personal agenda, pick one. For the most part it's a great place but a bit frustrating at times. Stick around. You'll figure out what's ok and what will get canned.

Mods simply don't have the time to send e-mails to every person who gets a post or thread pulled. It's an unreasonable expectation.

It's a lot easier for members to read and follow the rules.

If someone says 'Obama-fied" it's an open invitation for someone who loves Obama to retaliate with some quip against a maligned Republican. Because, that's what politics is: retaliatory warfare.

So no, you can't "slip in" some politically slanted slam of any kind.

I recently had to admit to a fellow on here with whom I have had a good relationship that I was the one who had consolidated his multiple sales ads in the classifieds. I don't think he was happy about it. I could have plead ignorance, but I didn't. I also didn't hear back from him, so I guess he might be cross with me. But, I have to enforce the rules.

You should feel lucky. I used the term cousin barry in a reply to a uncle sam post and got a 24 hour hammer along with 5 infraction points. Rules are not always applied equally here.

Silly that you are implying "political correctness" as the reason for your deletion. You just need to stop at "political" and you will have your answer. That you brought it up again deserves a banning in my opinion.

The OP addressed possibly being insensitive and you immediately go political? Maybe you're the one that needs the hammer.

Yeah I had you tagged as one of the "good ones". Stay safe up there. My kids in NH & Western Mass say it's gonna be bad. I'm glad I got out when I did.

Are you f&%*ing serious ? Ban a new guy for not knowing that the mere mention of the presidents name might be cause for having his thread dissapear and then politely asking why ? It's my opinion that ******** "my way or the highway" types like you are ruining this place. Let's not welcome new folks and try to teach them the ropes. We'll just show them the door the first time they make an honest mistake right ?

OP knows quite well why his post was deleted. Purposely repeats himself on a fishing expediton and some of you guys take the hook line and sinker. I stand by my opinion. Not worth anything but it is still my opinion. I did not go political, I just pointed out why the OP was probably banned. If you read more into than that then you are just wrong. But if you feel better for giving me a hard time about then be happy.

The "Entitled" thread got pulled and it seemed 99% about jobs and little about government. The one about the USPS had government written all over it and it's still open for replies.

I'm not sure what constitutes being "political." I guess trial and error is one method of learning.

The OP hasn't been banned. You're the one that suggested he should have been.

Which part of your statements did I not understand?

His use of "OP" to mean Original Post, and not Original Poster, though to talk about a post itself being banned is a little unusual.

You didn't type this ? A little early to be drinking ain't it. Like the other guy said, he wasn't "banned" he just had his post dumped and asked why. Don't make it into more than it is.... You seem to be looking for an argument and that's not why I come here.. Have a good night.

He was talking about the Original Post, not the Original Poster.

As is evident here we are more divided as a nation than at any point since the Civil War.

This is the Garage Journal - can we keep it to that - and maybe just stray into basements & outbuildings?

I think it is a good thing here. I was on another forum site that has nothing to do with garages or tools. I simply disagreed with a political post that another member had written. I was called every foul name that you could think of. I haven't posted on that forum again and probibly won't.
