1/2" long would be ideal. They are to reduce the threaded hole in a vise where someone drilled and tapped it bigger for custom pipe jaws. I'm going back to factory size.

Anywhere I can just buy 2 and get them shipped to my door? I do have fastenal and MSc in my city, but don't they usually sell in lots of 50, 100, etc?

McMaster has a whole bunch of different options linked below:

This particular one would be the simplest. I've used them plenty of times and they work great. You don't need the installation bit, a standard screwdriver will work just fine.

A good local hardware store might have something similar but that will require some luck and patience.

My local fastenal doesn't allow walk ins anymore but the person told me to make an online account. I can place orders and pick them up at the store I choose and get a better price. I had to order 6 or 8 grade 9 bolts and once I created an account it was no problem picking them up at the store.

That size adapter is a common for photo gear. Google "camera tripod thread adapter". They may not be hardened though.
Timely. I needed an adapter to fit a walking/shooting stick to put my binoculars on. Tried to make one but it was crude at best. $7 on Amazon.

Maybe check the insert for spark plug threads when they get blown out. They may be more durable.
