So is there a way to display thread replies in ascending order like the old forum? It's super annoying to have to scroll down to the bottom for the newer replies...Or to have the page load on the 1st page from like 2018. Thanks.

I've scoured everything since the change and can only find it in a filter, not a permanent preference or setup.

but after sometime passes, not sure how long,(weeks or months) it will take you to the first post in the thread. Ryan tried to come up with a work around but I guess it wasn't succesful. if you hit the Jump to new tab it takes you to the last read post

To me the best way for a forum to handle messages, is when you click on the link to the message in the list of new messages it goes to the first post. That way you can read what the thread was all about when it first started, and maybe a few posts after it began if you wanted to.

Then there should be a link at the top of the page that simply says "Go to the first unread message" and based on your high message pointer, you will be taken to the last message you read based on the date you last logged on.

This used to be common, but not so much today in most forums.

If there has been a new post since you visited the thread, it should have a red box with "new" beside the thread title. Once you click on it, it should take you to the last post either you made or looked at, I forget which.

If there is no "new" red box, clicking on the thread should take you to the beginning of the thread.

I believe this is how it works, been so busy with work the last few months, I haven't been around or spent a bunch of time here lately.

I know that, but if you go back to the thread (Or any old thread) it takes you back to the 1st page/post #1. Ascending meaning it takes you to the last page and post, or last unread post if that's the case. No scrolling down or clicking another page. VBullitin has always been that way. It makes going back to a thread to post or look up something not a PITA. "Progress and new or improved" is losing its meaning. HA!

whats interesting is when i click that new button, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. when it doesnt work it takes me to the first post in the thread. when it does work it takes me to the first unread post in the thread....
