Admin's,

I have run into a problem with one of my threads. I keep getting an error message when I try to make new entries in an existing post.

Here's the message:

vBulletin Message The text that you have entered is too long (10050 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long.

Can you give me some more juice? Say 20,0000 characters......

Thanks

one option is to split your entry. Enter half your verbiage, post, then reply to post and finish in the second post of the thread. Also remember that a percentage of the membership can't stay focused on anything longer than a tweet!

Larry,

Are you an admin?

The thread in question is Craftsman Hand Tool Manufacturers & Date Ranges and currently has about 95 replies. The only post that is causing problems is post 1; it's a list of Craftsman series codes, manufacturers, and date ranges. This post is a reference list that is designed to be used by people who want to research their Crafty tools.

If I split the list, part A will be located on the 1st page and part B will be located 10 pages and 95 replies later. This is no way display a reference list.

Is there any way to increase the character limit?

Gary, as an admin and moderator on several other forums that use vBulletin, you might want to do a little search in to what is capable.

I know that Pm's have a character limit as do Pm mailbox sizes and pm limits.

My fear of the request is that changing one thread limit may mean thaey all have to be changed depeding upon the version of vBulletin used.

And BTW, changing a users simple screen name is a giant PITA in vBulletin, thus my suggestion to do a little research.

The user manual is quite long and not an easy read sadly. The version hers is lited at the bottom of the page, but user manuals are a free download.

Hope you find a solution.

Since you are the #2 poster as well, couldn't you go in to that post edit it and add your new content there?

MTWG,

You may be on to something here. I had not considered that possibility. Let me try that and see if that won't cure my problems.

Thanks for the suggestion...
