I need to add an extension to an air gun nozzle to reach deep down in a hydraulic cylinder for cleaning and am having trouble finding the thread size. I have seen some on McMaster that list 1/8" NPT and others say 1/8" NPS or 7/16-27 etc. I have plenty of 3/8" OD stainless tubing and tube to 1/4" NPT fittings I would like to take advantage of. Has anyone made a similar extension?

I have 2 long reach guns that look the same but the nozzles don't interchange. never bothered trying to figure out the thread size, but I imagine they could be anything, metric, pipe, sae, etc.

I’ve found and used brass fluid fitting with ferrules that bite into 1/4” copper and aluminum tubing. I keep one setup with a length of tubing for just that reason.

I took a blow gun with 1/8 npt threads on the end and added a compression fitting (1/8npt x 5/16) and a long piece of 5/16 steel brake tube I had & it works rather well.

That's more or less what I did. I found a blow gun listed as 1/8 NPT on McMaster and bought a 1/8 NPT x Parker A-Lok tube fitting. It has 2 ferrules that crush the pipe to seal. A little overkill but we already had the pipe at work. On the discharge end I put an A-Lok tube x male 1/4 NPT fitting and attached a pressure washer quick connect to that. It goes to a pressure washer wand that has 3 radial holes and plugged on the end. It spins around to clean, or dry in this case, the inside of a hydraulic accumulator we use that gets dirty crud in it. The assembly is a bit heavy but better than blowing all over straight down the accumulator housing.
