threaded insert questions

Hi all,

So I am looking to hang a screen for outdoor viewing on on the side of my porch (see pic with red dots). I have a screen I got from work for free that is big but heavy - similar to what I have posted a pic below. So there is a 3/4' pvc board on top of a LVL where I want the mounts.
Rather than have hooks sticking out all the time, I was thinking using threaded inserts - but it has to go deep enough to bite in the LVL. I don't trust the PVC for the weight.
This way I can screw hooks in easily whenever I want to use the screen. (I could also paint some matching bolts when not in use so you can barely see it)
Thoughts? Anyone know a decent source for longer threaded inserts? Am I not thinking of anything?

Thanks!

Could you bore through the PVC maybe a 1" hole then install the insert into the LVL. Look for plastic hole plugs to install then not using the hooks. Like these that were the first results in my search for plastic hole plugs.

One alternative that occurred to me was to drive a tee nut into the back of that LVL. You might need a metal tube to line the hole if the weight was such that it would deform the hole you drilled through the trim board.

Does the screen weigh something crazy?

Maybe permanent hooks painted to match your trim wouldn’t look so bad after all. 😁

That seems a lot like how pool cover anchors get installed. I've been considering mounting storm shutters on these anchors into structural wood (through the trim):

I’m waiting for the typical GJ overkill suggestion such as forged eye bolts (with shoulders) running clear through the LVL with malleable washers on each side to spread the load after torquing the nuts with your M18 impact gun. 😎

Don’t forget to announce in a loud voice “This ain’t going nowhere”

I like the Lowes GRK fasteners mainly because they are installed w/ an allen. I have seen similar that just have 2 slots cut into the top edge for a flat screwdriver tip to engage. I can't tell how the second link pieces are installed
