Threaded slide hammer adaptors?

I need a few adapters, we have some at work, but they have no brand, and I am having trouble finding some of my own.

The adapter would thread on to the end of a slide hammer (5/8-18), and then have a male end to thread in to a bolt hole. In my case, I need 5/16'' and 3/8'' coarse thread.

Where can I find these? I have been searching on the internet and cant find them.

FWIW, I've fabricated them:

1. Some 5/8-18 coupling nuts, 5/16" and 3/8" allen bolts and a welder.

2. A friend with a lathe.

No, those are for vise grips. They have the *** on the end. I like the idea of welding them, but I know they exist as a product, so I would like to find them.

I cant find them on Snap On's website or on eBay. I would even buy them from Snap On directly.

Do you have part numbers to get me started?

Wrong. Those have the 5/8-18 internal thread for a slide hammer.

They fit on a slide hammer, but are designed to fit in place of the adjusting screw of a pair of vise grips. Again, what the little *** is for.

I have a set of them.

McMaster Carr sells adapter fittings in damn near every size.

Last set I bought I needed 5/16 course thread on the male end, but they only sold that in 5/8 coarse thread female end. I had to just retap to fine thread to fit the slide hammer.

You're best off just buying a pile of 5/8 fine thread heavy hex nuts from the hardware store, and welding bolts to them as needed to fabricate adapters.

I've made several adaptors by welding nuts to bolts. Works fine for my needs.

I used to keep a bag of 5/8 fine thread nuts right next to my slide hammer just for this purpose.

Perfect! I found the adapters I need on page 216 of that PDF. I think I will buy the couple I will use most, and then buy some extra 5/8'' nuts to make my own in the future. Thanks guys!

If you have a heavy truck shop that makes spring U bolts nearby, they have the nuts that have the longer lenght and come in black steel so they work nicer for welding.

I bought an OTC 8007 adapter a couple months ago to use a Kent-Moore puller with my common slide hammer. I'd go SO if you have truck svc.

We have a dowel pin puller set at work, and use a variety of socket head cap screws with the socket head cut off. This way you can fubar the threads on the bolt and for less than a buck you have a new threaded insert.

Works great for standard and metric, coarse and fine threads, lots of variety.

Decided to just make some up as some suggested. Did a quick fusion weld between a 5/8" nut and the applicable bolt. Came out real nice actually. Considering the Snap On ones were $40/piece.

I just buy 5/8" UNF coupling nuts and make what I need.
