i'd try to find a used box at a garage sale, flea mkt, or locally on CL.
i picked up this 3 drawer CM box dated oct 1970 in good shape for $25.
or this kennedy cantilever box for $9 little banged up, but solid
both from a flea mkt.

the fun is in the chase

Crashman, you can do much better than that box in the link. Those are pretty flimsy and wayyyyyy overpriced.

Crewchief, I have one of those Craftsman boxes...2nd link in my signature. I like that Kennedy too!

I have picked up 2 similar boxes at garage sales in the past year and don't have $20 in the pair. Most weeks I pass at least one.

I have this Homak 3 drawer chest, ball bearing drawers, has been riding in the trunk for 2 years now, still good as new. Handle is flimsy though, but perfect for bench top use. Put some engine oil on the bearings once in a while and they roll ultra-smooth, and unlike craftsman chests, the drawers pull all the way out of the chest, which is kinda nice especially if you are storing small items like pin punches, files, mini screwdrivers.

Also check out this box, had some good reviews, this one has the extra fold-out tray on top:

Watch Craig's List. For some unknown reason the Kennedy toolboxes, although bullitproof, are usually pretty cheap. They make a lot of machinists chests but they also make mechanics tool chests. The older Craftsman like the ones above and the early red ones with the dark gray drawers are very strong boxes also.

Thank you all for your help. I will keep my eyes out for one of the Kennedy boxes.

Cheers

if you want a cary-on box like the one posted take a look at some of the next gen boxes coming out that are made out of injection molded plastic (dont laugh this stuff is tough) you can throw them around and they will bounce back. but if you want something nice save your money. If you look at my albums you can take a look at my box. I got all of those for >200 granted they were on closeout. but you just have to search. I got my top box (sells for 150 regular) for 50 and I got my bottom box (sold for 400 before closeout) for 140 so just look around. I think you can do much better than the box that you have listed.

GOOD LUCK

I picked up a Clarke brand from rural king and have been very happy with it. I think it was 40 dollars or so. To my surprise it is built very well.
