Hey fellas. Not so much a garage question but a house question. Previous owner used some crappy mdf (I think that is what it is) to make a small threshold/interior step for the patio sliding door. What could I replace this with? The dogs are wrecking from going in and out all the time. What can I use that will last and look nice

we have a piece of TREX under my front door. It comes in colors, termites wont eat it, and it was a gift.

Looks like the one you have was painted. You can make a threshold out of red oak or better yet, out of hickory. A hardwood threshold would stand up pretty well even with the dogs walking on it.

Yank that out and take a measurement. Simple 1x oak stained to match floor would be nice. Might have to use 5/4 or 4/4 depending on depth. That’s full one inch thick or one and a quarter.
