I think most of us here know how expensive Clutch or throttle cables can get. Especially when the cable looks great, works great with the exception of course of that peski led end that just broke off.
Well, here is a solution that might help you salvage that cable and save yourself a few buck.

Nice tip! Here's a hint for molding solder, if you have an acetylene torch. Light a very small flame with acetylene only (NO oxygen), and you can use the super sooty flame to coat the mold with carbon soot. That will prevent any sticking.

It seems to me that you can re-use your mold for several other sizes too, by drilling in the side for the wire, instead of in the end.

All that being said, and for all the work I've done on bicycle cables, I can't say I've used this method yet. I'll usually either use a bicycle brake cable (if one fits the job), or I'll drill a small hole in a scrap of copper, and crimp that onto the cable.

I have seen these kits. Work great for motorcycle cables. In fact I used these when I was in the motorcycle industry. Used to be a Honda Motorcycle Tech. Before moving to the OPE side.
Unfortunately, this kit will not work with almost 90% of OPE equipment. Clutch cable for a Fairway mower your looking at over 100.00 at times.

I've used similar, I'd suggest that after putting the cable into the mould that you splay the wires a bit so you have a mechanical hold as well as a solder hold.
