I bought a front wheel drive bearing kit from Harbor freight, and it uses a 7/8 bolt for the forcing screw. I want to get a thrust bearing to make everything last longer than the washers, but all I can find are 3/4 thrust bearings.

Anyone know where to get a thrust bearing for fit 7/8 bolt? Thanks!

Holy smokes you all are fast. I looked at McMaster but missed those bearings somehow.

If you are going to use a thrust bearing, get a few. Thrust bearings of that type can only handle about 2ish tons of force, so they will wear/break fairly quickly. I'm not saying don't use them - Eric O (South Main Auto) uses them too) - just be aware of the limitations when it comes to how much pressure they can take.

PERSONALLY, I would just use a GOOD ep moly grease. Moly grease forms a very thin layer (of moly) that can take an incredible amount of pressure even after the grease carrier appears to squeeze out.

Yes, CV joint grease is perfect. I've watched a bunch of people doing wheel bearings on Youtube. The screw is always drier than a nun's youknowwhat.

I use the bearings and have for years and always a have a couple spares if it does fail but I also keep the threads well lubed with CMD extreme pressure lube or Lucas oil Extreme pressure grease and always oil the bearings and it has worked well for me and never torn up a thread. I have two kits an Astro set and a Hub Shark.

I'd recommend a bronze washer between two hardened washers. Or two hardened washers with lube between them. A 7/8-9 screw at only 110 lb-ft is over 7,000 lbf clamping.

I will buy a couple of the bearings. I need to do one front wheel bearing on the wife's car, the other is sure to follow soon. I will definitely Grease the screw, I never understood why people did them dry.
