As is my habit during the summer, I took off half a day today to go to yard sales. But everything seemed to go wrong today, and I found only JUNK at most of my stops. But I did manage to keep the day from being a TOTAL disaster, when I got some Kennedy boxes at one yard sale, and some cool really old tools at another. Here are some pix:
Some guy beat me to this yard sale, and apparently bought all the tools at once. But he left all 3 Kennedy tool boxes/chests.
Prices on the boxes were such that I was surprised that these boxes were still sitting there.
Look at the price tag on the little tool box in the photo above. It has a little rust, obviously, but is otherwise sound.
The "middle-type" cabinet underneath the big tool box had this tag with model number inside one drawer.

I haven't figured out whether that tag on the front is something the owner added on...or factory installed?
So anyway, the main "top" box was price tagged at $35, middle box at $25, and little box was $5. Pretty young teenage girl was watching the yard sale, and when she saw I was afraid to pull too hard to open the front lid covering the drawers for fear of damaging something, she called her dad on cell phone. Turned out he was inside house! He came out, yanked hard, and it popped right open. Then he went back inside the house. Two minutes later, he popped out his head and said to me, "Hey! If you want both those boxes, I'll make a better price." I asked how much, and he said, "$40". I gave his daughter the money. Then, to my surprise, SHE carried the biggest one out to my truck! Ha! Then I couldn't help myself, and offered her $3 for the remaining little Kennedy Box, and she accepted it. That meant I had a total investment of $43 in all three Kennedy boxes. Not sure if it's a fabulous deal, but it's not too shabby, I'm pretty sure. (By the way, the bottoms of the insides of the drawers are not RUSTED. The color you see there is a type of mat or "carpet" that the previous owner put in there).
