Just though I would show what I was working on yesterday and today.
I wanted a set of rear tie downs for the 69 mustang conv when we have the car on the trailer.
Yes I have the factory tie downs but their location is not ideal when attaching to my trailer so I end up going around the rear axle. I am also adding a factory sway bar to the car.
Now they make shock plates that have tie down loops on them, but they are expensive and I kind of don't like them. So in my typical fashion I went with what was in my head and in my material scrap pile.

These plates will go between the factory shock plate and the spring. Gives me the tie down location that I am wanting and the attaching point for the rear sway bar I am adding

Very nice, post up a pic of the car! Do you have to compensate in suspension for thickness added by plate? Never saw that before they look great.

In this case the axle goes above the spring and this plate will go under the spring between the spring and the shock plate. So there will be no change to ride height.

I am a believer of drive it, and we do drive it. But on a longer trip it is so much nicer to take it on a trailer and then once we are there we drive it around and then back on the trailer for the trip home. Don't want to sound like a wimp but with no AC and a thin rim steering wheel, a long trip across the desert is not a fun trip. Any trip that is more than about an hour and a half and the car goes on the trailer

Thanks
Some history on the car.
This was my dads daily driver for years. He bought it with less than 30k miles on it and immediately became his daily transportation to work. He even took the car when he went fishing and camping.
It spent a little time being a driver for me back in the day as well. and my brother drove it a bit as well. ( side story is that I hated when my brother drove the car because he did not 'appreciate' the car)
At some point when I when I gave the car back to my dad, he put it in the garage and didn't drive it because he was busy. The car stopped running and there it sat.
At this time the car had right about 176k miles on the car but was still in good shape because it was always garaged over the years.
I ended up pulling the ending and trans to do a rebuild and There the car sat some more while I was busy with family stuff.
Fast forward to 2013. We knew the 2014 mustang anniversary was coming up and Wanted to get the car running and take it to the show. The day after thanksgiving 2013 we loaded the car and took it to my shop, dad and I started to tear the car apart to go through it.
Rebuilt engine, trans, suspension, brakes, new interior, tires...etc
We took the car to the 50th anniversary event in Vegas. It was a lot of fun.
I had the car on the track at about 90mph during the event.
We trailers the car to Vegas but for the several days we were there the truck/trailer stayed at the speedway and we drove the car all around Vegas wherever we wanted or needed to go.
The car is still running, we take it to several shows a year. My dad and I hand the car back and forth. Sometimes I have it and will drive it to work and wherever, other times he has it and drives it wherever he is going.

By the way, this is mustang number 1 to my dad and I, over the years I have had 87 mustangs. My first car for high school was a red mustang convertible. This is the car that led us down the road to being mustang nuts. We currently have 4 convertibles and 3 coupes.
Playing with mustangs in the shop with dad is always fun, he might work a bit slower than he used to but still gets it done and still knows his way around fixing these cars.
We do 95% of all the work ourselves.
