Hi all,
I'm building a foot control for my Miller Diversion TIG and am wondering, does anyone know which direction the potentiometer needs to be connnected? Should the resistance of the 1K pot increase or decrease as the pedal is depressed?
I could walk out to the garage and plug it in to test but it's currently 15 degrees out here in MN (up from 1F when I was eating breakfast) and I'm not sure my fingers would hold still long enough.

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. When I re-read my post I realized that I had phrased my question badly, but the note on the wire diagram cleared it up.
There's no useful info in the documentation that came with the welder. Needless to say, they don't expect - or want - the user to build an accessory they sell.

Well, it only took me ten months to get back to this project but I can report that the re-purposed guitar pedal as a TIG foot control works quite well. I wouldn't mind a little more travel and I have to adjust the cut-off switch at the top of the travel, but I'm happy with it.
I'm attaching my notes here with the wiring circuit identification and the RJ45 wire/connector colors for future reference if anyone looks in here in the future to answer the same question I asked. One note missing on my chart is that the control switch (between pins 4 and 6) is normally open and closes when the pedal is depressed.
Thanks again everyone for all the help.
Joe
