TIG rod question

A friend has a bunch of rod. 3' lengths of Tig-tectic 2-24 on paper tags on the rod. Also some marked just D & some marked 5-A. Looks like it's for stainless, but what kind?

What is this stuff & what's it worth? He wants to sell it but no clue as to what it is or worth. Maybe a 3" bundle of it.

Anyone recognize these ?

TT 224 is a nickel rod specifically designed for repairing cast iron-it is very common and is often used for repairing cast engine blocks, oil pumps, etc etc.

5A is an ASME p-number, meaning it's possible that filler rod was destined for use in a qualified weld of some kind. D is pretty generic, and I have no idea what that could be.

As far as value, its filler rod. It ain't worth a fortune. 224 can be had new for $25 or so a pound.

I just ordered 5-1/2 lbs of Eutectic 224 from the Eutectic company in MENOMONEE FALLS WI. Had to give $60 a lb. Where do you buy yours from. They acted like I was getting a deal since they knocked 35% off the price per pound. I could not find any for sale here in Colorado. I like this rod better then Nickle or Inconel for welding cast steel.

Why use nickel or Inconel for cast steel? Why not 70S2?
