i've read a few comments about centering and really am not sure what you guys are referring to. i took my garage measurements and using those measurements, plan to lay the tile down w/ the 1/2" expansion leeway all the way around. how might i lay the tile differently to "center" the tiles? thanks!

Most floors aren't going to be an exact number of tiles wide, so if you started at one wall with a full tile you're going to end up with a partial tile at the other wall. If that piece ends up being just a little sliver, it doesn't look very good. A better idea is to measure the floor and plan things out so you have a full tile centered on the middle of the room, and then you'll have the same size partial tile at either end.

Remember to figure both north-south and east-west.

Doorways, entrances, cabinets may have an effect on your floor plan as well.

The only problem with "centering" is that you have to buy more tiles. If your doing a design then this is by far the best way to go. But if it is all the same pattern and color, Most people have no problems with having a small peice on the edge. Alot of the tiles you don't even notice.

ok, got it. i have done up ton of designs and am even using some XL tiles (18")in conjunction with the 12" so that my pattern is symetrical all the way around. :bounce: thanks for the replies.
