Does anybody have any ideas on how to cut some 2"x6" ceramic tile without a tile saw or cutter. I have some clippers for mozaic tile but I don't know if they will work on this big of a tile. I have a lot of tools but no tile saw.

You need a diamond blade. Get em at home depot, lowes or any
hardware store. They have sized that will fit an angle grinder or a
masonary circular saw.

A masonary blade might work but not as clean as a diamond blade. Masonary blade will fit a circular saw or masonary circular saw (4")

I ran into this when I tiled our porch recently. I had a handful of tiles that needed cut but I didnt want to have to buy a saw just to have it sit unused after the project. As other members have mentioned, you can use a tile scorer. They are very cheap. I think mine was under $20. This is the one I bought:

I will share that if youre trying to "rip" the tile, as in reduce the width, this might not be the best method. I scrapped out about 3 or 4 tiles before I finally settled with one that just had a slight imperfection in the break. I thought scoring the tile multiple times would give me a better chance of there not being any left over chunks but like I said, I reached a point where I said thats good enough. The grinder idea sounds like it would work. A cutoff wheel would allow you to score pretty deeply and/or cut through the whole thing.

OR, you could check out your local craigslist. There are plenty of people who buy tile scorers and saws and then try to recoup their money by selling it off pretty cheap. Hope this helps and good luck!

I would say to get a tile scorer, they are much faster then cheap tile saws when they work right.

But on the other hand I purchased this one a few years back 'Home Depot Tile Saw' to tile a counter at my house. It works great for 6x6 tile but I have also used it to cut 12x12 tile for my kids bathroom and it also worked great then, just a little time consuming. I am currently using it to tile my kitchen. It cuts through the terra cotta tile that I am putting down in the kitchen right now like butter.

Its $48 +tax and you could use a lowes $10 dollar of $50 coupon and get it even cheaper.

Just be aware that these will throw water everywhere and soak you in the crotch if they are on a short stand. Lovely machines.... :lol_hitti

They are passable for a few cuts.

Yes it does get me soaked in the crotch area all the time but it works great.

I have been using this one for 2 years with no issues.

I put a 8" diamond blade in my table saw. It makes a lot of dust, but worked good. I tiled my 1500 sq ft house using it. I used a angle grinder with a 36 grit sanding disc to clean up and bevel edges. I used porcelen tile.

Rent a tile saw.

I recommend putting down all your full tiles. All of them. Skip all the tiles that you need to trim, cut, whatever. Just lay them out in the appropriate places. Take a marker and mark your cuts on the tile. Then go and rent a tile saw from your big box. Anything without water is going to be crazy dusty. I had to use a grinder on a bunch of circle cutouts, and holy ****. My garage was all in dust.

Thanks for all the input. I was able to get a pretty clean cut with my tile clippers. I only had to cut a few 2" x 6" black borders to length and after I grouted with charcoal gray grout it looks real good. The rest was mozaic so I was able to use the clippers.
