Here are my samples I have down as a test. The orange is more like a safety orange but the blue looks good. I hate when sales people say stuff like that 04Navi because I always wonder are they decent and telling the truth or just trying to push a sale along.

Oh well we'll see what it is when I order.

Hmmm you get four samples on request?

Now if I can get 200 + people to order and send thier samples to me I could do my garage for the cost of shipping

I've been lurking on this site for quite a while now and have seen many fantastic garages. I originally browsed for peoples flooring setups and cvt installs. I had intended to this as well, however when I found this thread and became aware of the tile closeout my plan changed.

I live up in Canada and to do my 20 X 20 attached garage would have cost me around 800 bucks if doing CVT plus the time involved in cleaning my floor prior to laying tile. I bought 500 square feet of the closeout tile for basically 1.12 canadian a tile. I sent my wife down to rento to pick it up, so I managed to save shipping and brokerage fees at the border.

For anyone contemplating these tiles (if they are still available) go for it. Expansion issues can be combated by leaving enough expansion joints on side (think floating laminate floor) near walls and doorways. The only real issue I had was buckling along the edge that had the factory edge pieces. Diagnosis edge pieces are a fraction longer than the actual tile so every few edge pieces my floor would buckle, I trimmed every third edge piece and now no buckling.

I have attached some pics. The only bummer about having a nice floor in your garage, you'll want to keep it clean.... another room in the house to do....

received tiles this last week 8/22/07 and installed on Sat. looked great, easy to install and once laid out in seamed to quite down. (less noise when walked on)

I have had tile a while but have been working on it in my spare time. It has taken a bit of time to do my 30x52.
So far no issues.
A little bucking in direct heat of the day sunlight at the doors, but as soon as the door are closed or the sun is off of it the it lays right down.

Here is the deal. We used to bring the stuff in in container loads and we moved a ton of it. They had some issues which is why the stuff is on closeout. It is thinner than Daytona, Rackdeck, Swisstrax and most other brands. If you want to use it call Brad or Kurt up at the factory (http://www.dynotile.com/contact/) and talk to them about the application you are looking to use it in. There are some tolerance issues so certain patterns won't work. Also, do not use in direct exposure to the sun or in situations where you plan to leave your garage door open. This product will work with some layouts and applications and will have problems on others as they accurately state on the website you referenced. The best bet is to call them and ask if it will work in the pattern and application you are doing.

Most garage floor tiles look good a week or two after you put them in, the key is how do they look in a month or even a year.

They are located near Seattle.

I spoke to them today. They still have a lot left of certain colors. They have a lot of black. The other colors (if I remember right) where red, blue, orange, and yellow.

They seem like nice people; they are holding the quantity I need until I get the samples so that they would still be available when I'm ready to order.

Damn I wish I would have found this site earlier so I could have gotten some different colors!! There would have been no hesitation - as it stand now, I have to figure out what will work and IF I will even like it!!

I have 6 bays (3 on the house and 3 detached) so I have about 2000 square feet to work with.

I really need some white - that would help the situation. Are these compatible with any other tile?

The original plan, with a different brand tile, was black and grey. If I get these tiles (most likely will) it will either be black and blue or all black. Black and red looks too much like a checkerboard, and blue and red or yellow will look like a kid's room.

Any suggestions???

I spoke with them today and they only have Blue and black in large quantities and orange and yellow in smaller. I think he said something like 1200 yellow pieces.

I just wanted to give an update -- I have received a lot of private messages asking me about this, so I figured this thread must still be getting attention.

I've had the floor for roughly 6 months now, and in general, no complaints. What everyone else is saying is true -- it should work great in certain situations. I get no direct sun in my garage, and I used a pattern that seems to help offest the very small size differences in the colors.

About 3 months in, I had buckling in two places, but that was at the very front of the garage -- I determined that the entire floor had moved forward the slightest bit (like one quarter inch), and was hitting one of the posts, and the cabinet wall. So I trimmed a little more around all of that, and it was happy again. I don't really know how the entire floor moved like that over the months, but I guess it must be when you have no cars in there, and then drive just one in, it must move a little. I typically always have 1-2 cars in, so it has not moved again. Just taking a guess at that is all.

At $1 per tile, I am happy as can be. My biggest complaint now is that after 6 months the tiles are dirty, and it is time for me to get my cleaner going -- I figure an hour or two crawling around, and it will look brand new again. I sweep it out all the time, but you get some dirt marks from the tires. The few spots I have cleaned up have come out good as new. Including brake fluid and oil on some tiles for 10+ days -- the joy of a vintage car.

Summary -- Very happy after 6 months, would do it again in a second. I am happy that I bought extra so that if I do extend the garage to a 4th bay, I can match the floor. Perhaps in the next house, the only thing I might consider would be to use a flow through style tile for where the cars park -- that would be pretty neat for the water run off and even for the dirt (if it was easy to pick it up and sweep under it once a month or something).

I have two garages - a three car attached to the house and a 1 car/2 bikes/1 boat detached garage (3 bays).

I am thinking of this for the house (the grey areas not tile - just the black, blue, yellow)

For the detached garage, I am considering one of these two options:

Also I am unsure about the long runs of yellow and black - I am not sure how well they play together and may cause unevenness....I haven't heard back from the guys at Dynotile on this issue.

I ordered some samples so I can make a decision shortly.

New to the site, been reading for a little bit, and saw this thread. My question is, has anyone from the southern US gotten these and had them in, in the summer time. My garage gets 80-90+ degrees in it during the day most of the summer, so I wonder how this would hold up with that kind of heat.

As per my post earlier......
I have had mine completed since early summer and with the exception on a little bucking at the garage door openings in direct sunlight "this does go away when the sun is off of them or the doors are shut" ...I am very happy with them.
I never thought this thread would get this much action since I started it.

31 Boxes showed up UPS on Tuesday. I am doing a blue floor with a pattern like a five on a dice with orange on the outside and a yellow in the middle (wanted red but they sold out). Now I just need to get it painted so I can install it.

Has anyone parked a motorcycle on these? I took two sample tiles, put the back tire of the VROD on one and put the kickstand on the other.

The one under the rear tile looked fine. The one under the kick stand had a definate impression in it and even compressed some of the webbing underneath. I guess I will be using a kickstand plate under the kickstand of my bike and the wife's Sportster.....

For those that have installed this tile, may I ask what edging you've used. The site states they have both male & female edging. Did you use edging where the tile meets the drywall or did you just trim the tile itself? Also did you use female edging at the garage door opening?

I am going to use the female edging as it seemed to make a stronger connection than the male (isn't that true in real life - the females get more attached than the males!)

I am going to only do the eding along the front edge of the garage and leave a 1/2 inch gap on the other sides to give it room to expand and contract.

I will be doing mine this weekend hopefully - my tile is sitting in the ROADWAY hub in GARLAND and will be delivered tomorrow.

From the pictures of the tile, it appears as though each tile has "male" ends on each side. Are you planning to cut the tile or "male" ends? My garage gets tons on sunlight so I am a little concerned about the expansion. Is your garage exposed to a lot of sun?

2 sides are male and 2 sides are female. So when I lay them down, the front edge and left side (if i am standing at the front of the garage) will have the male side and the back and right side will be female sides. Where the joining loops are exposed on one side and the back, I will simply cut them off or leave them depending on how unsightly they are. I am leaning towards leaving them as that would allow them to be reused. However, I do know that my garage will require some cuts because I have 23 feet accross and in order to leave 1/2 inch or so on both sides, I will have to trim one of the tiles by an inch or so. Clear as mud...

I have two garages - my detached garage gets direct sunlight in all three bays, but I usually do not leave the doors up on these during the heat of the day because the sunlight is unbearable. THe other 3 car attached garage does not get direct sunlight.

Well, I think with the dimensions of the part I am tiling, which are 233" X 201", I can get away without trimming any tiles and using edging on the whole thing. This will leave me 3/4" on either side and I will probably leave 3/4" in the back too for expansion. Will leave it about 4" short of the garage door, but that is OK with me. I just wish I had more time, it looks like it will be a little while before I do it, as I am epoxying the floor first.

My tiles arrived late last week. I spent part of the weekend doing the 3 car attached garage as well as the boat bay on the detached garage. I still have the two other bays on the detached garage to do, but that will have to wait until mid-November due to travel and other committments. Here are some pics of the progress:

I did scratch on of the blue tiles rather easily when I was moving the car fenders around. The blue and black snapped together quickly and nicely. The black in the attached garage took some coercing at times with a rubber mallet to get them to fit flush. I was only going to put the female edges across the front, but I realized that I need some male edges across the rear instead of cutting some of the tiles. Overall I think it turned out nice - my kids love the "road" in the garage but that black is going to be a pain to keep clean - it shows every foot print. The blue does as well though not as bad.
