Cast Iron sewer pipe failed under the basement floor and ground water was flooding my new septic tanks.

Had to saw cut the floor to expose the failed pipes.

Would greatly appreciate if anyone can recommend where we might get enough tiles (that match existing) to fix an area of about 3.5 x3.5' opening in the floor.

Believe the tiles are ceramic.

IMG_3654[1].JPGIMG_3683[1].JPGApproximately 8-5/8 x 8-3/4", 11/32" thick and are "pillowed" topped.

They look to be terracotta in color.

Any help will be wonderful.

Thank you all for taking a look.

Looks like a quarry tile. I doubt you will find one that is an exact match but you might find something sort of close. Hit up really tile suppliers in your area and see if they can help you match it.

tiles are made in batches so are always unique. you may get lucky. those look like the Mexican red tiles usually called 'Saltillo'. made from terracotta IIRC

Odis- take this from a Texan— those are Saltillo tiles and they are everywhere here. Your tile is sealed so when you buy them they won’t look as shiny. They are nice looking tile.

Think I'd be really lucky to find the exact match since these were installed in the '70s.

Yeah, we heard about the tiles being made in batches from our local supplier and they too have little hope of find something close. They did not give the name of the tile as you have.
If you cant find an exact match I would get some totally contrasting tiles and make some type of art pattern.
Contemplate having to go with contrast or mosaic tiles. Don't know yet what we will do but for sure, I need to get this handled ASAP.

Have as yet to look on-line but I do really appreciate all of the images you posted and the fact these tiles are still popular...... Man, really hope these can still be purchased which would help me sleep better, you know, 1st world problems and all...

Thanks to all of you for your comments and help here. If others have any input, please do drop a line or two.

Odis.

This is the home where the tiles need to be replaced and is why there is a bit of obsessing over fixing the floor. BTW, it is for sale.

it's not uncommon to find dog paw prints in the tile from digs running thru the drying yards

alternately, stick in some of those painted mexican tiles at random thru the hallway. gives it a nice touch of color and spontaneity

It surprises me that a house in the PNW would have Saltillo tile. Not a very fitting selection for that area. I also suspect Saltillo tile is not a common tile in the tile stores in your area, its very common in the southwest.

I did more than a few houses with saltillo's on Whidbey Island. Houses in any area can have a southwest design  . Saltillo's also add mass to a radiant floor system. One very large job we started to find a few coyote prints in the tiles as we mixed cratefuls and sorted out the overly warped ones. We eventually found the entire trail the coyote had taken across the drying tiles, so we re-created his path from the front entry into the living room, without notifying the clients. They loved it.
ODIS, I wish I could help, but I think your best bet is to contact a large tile distributor in the southwest.
