Tile flooring question for those with DOGS

I'm in the final decision stage on which garage flooring to put down.

I like the SwissTrak RibTrax ( open style) tiles, as well as the RaceDeck Diamond (solid style) tile. I was not too big on Race Deck's open style product, Flowthru as it showed too much of the concrete floor below it.

So my questions is, for those who are using the OPEN style tiles, and have a dog, will your dog walk across the tiles, with the open design? My dog has rather long toe nails ( even after trimming all the way) and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen issues?

I've got 2 sample pieces down now, but the dog walks around them to get in the house.

Thoughts? Also, anyone who has put down Open design ( Flow Thru, or RibTrax brand) sorry they didn't get solid tiles instead, for any reason?

thanks,

I have race deck free flow in 90% of my garage and my 2 adult rough collies have no issues with it and they have full access to the garage 24/7. If they are not out side running around they are in the garage hanging with me and the vehicles parked in it. I had a litter of pups with my dogs a few months back and the pups had no issues either.

Our half-dozen golden retrievers are fine on my FreeFlow floor. They'll often come lie on it in the summer when the door's open and I'm working there. I have never seen any indication that they walk, run or anything else any different than when it was concrete. Same with me, actually: sometimes I don't even get out my creeper when needing to get beneath the pickup or tractor, it is pretty comfortable to lie and scoot around on. Or that is how I find it.

As far as wishing I'd gone with solid tiles instead, I don't. I have an area with solid tiles for some table saw and other work, but 80% of the floor is FreeFlow. It doesn't matter to me; they are both comfortable to walk and stand and work upon.

OK so Zippity is my 22# rescue dog / hand / foot model :lol_hitti

I think once you get an idea of the foot to rib size ratio you will breath easier :)

It is also much easier to clean up dog hair on the ribbed IMHO

Lucky for us, it's a non shedding 30 lb **** a Poo :D:D:D

I know once it's down over the whole floor, it won't be an issue.... Right now, the dog sees the 2 sample pieces at the base of the stairs, and hops to the side of it.

If yours is anything like mine a strategically placed treat will fix that in a heartbeat

I would looks at the tiles from garage flooring LLC. My garage is 90% RD free flow and 10% solid tiles from garageflooring LLC. I was able to mix them with each other as they have the same height, connectors etc. The quality seems to be the same also but the GFLLC tiles are less in price. Order some samples from each company and you will see what I mean.

Thanks...... I just posted that I placed my order this afternoon... going with SwissTrak RibTrak open style. I looked at GarageFlooring's website but didn't see where they sold SwissTrak. It looked like they might have sold it years ago.

I did get samples from both companies, and once seeing the SwissTrak RibTrak open style, it was an easy decision...... liked it much better, as I couldn't see through to the concrete floor nearly as easy with the thicker tile, and it seemed much more sturdy.

We have a chihuahua and a german spitz and never had an issue either.
