Tile trim

Hi guys,

Sorry for the noob question but what’s the metal trim that goes right at the end of the garage floor so the car doesn’t damage the tile edge when you drive in? I’ve looked for it at Home Depot but couldn’t find it. Let me know and thanks I’m advance. I’m attaching a pic in case I’m not explaining myself clearly.

It’s called a few things but I have always referred to it as schluter strip. Schluter is a brand of tile products and the edge strip is one product they produce. HD no longer carries schluter and I believe Lowe’s does. HD carries a similar product but it’s not the same brand

Thank you for the info, if the tile is already installed, is there anything else that can be added? I see on your picture that the trim seems to go underneath the last tile, right?

Yes, the trim goes under the tile as you're setting the last row.

Even with the tiles already installed you can still add a tile edge trim. If you're careful enough you can cut a channel in the thinset just under the tile with an angle grinder using a cutting disk or using an oscillating multi tool. Once the cut is completed just slide the edge trim in place with some thinset, tape it down until the thinset cures .

If you haven't already bought stuff, look at Schluter's catalog and think about ordering a different product- they make a ramp profile, have stainless steel products, etc.
