My dad just picked up a used 6' x 12' tilt utility trailer and it has some play in the pin that holds the trailer from tilting from years of banging around. Knowing the creative minds that run around on this board I figured somebody has had to come up with a better way of doing this other than a hitch pin thru 4 holes.

look at the gate latch on a dump bed
I had tbis same issue on a 4x8 tilt trailer i have. Now mine is not meant for heavy loads. I never haul over 1k lbs and normally a lot less.
I cured the issue by cutting part of an old C-clamp and welding the threaded nut to the bed. Now all i do is twist the clamp to apply pressure between the bed and the frame to eliminate the play. For a heavier load, i would take more time and fab up a way to "squeeze" the bed and frame together. But for my purposes, my design worked just as good and was faster and simpler.
I hope this helps you think of options to solve the issue.3e53986bc9b96701034b0b7dde9b42c4.jpg
