The one I have now is 38 years old and about worn out so time for a new one,the one I have is about 85,000 btu and going to look for a slightly larger heater. Can the newer heaters use diesel since its a bit cheaper then kerosene and who sells them.

Yep, they all run on kero, diesel, or fuel oil. Your local True Value either stocks them or can order them. You can also go to truvalue.com order and pay for it, then just pick it up at the store. Tractor Supply, even Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot etc usually carry them. For a 110k btu I would guess they are about $350 give or take...

I have a Dyna-glo pro from Home Depot. It's marketed as a multi-fuel unit and runs great on diesel. A 5 gallon tank of diesel will run about 8-9 hours and it puts out some nice heat. For me it's the only reasonable option since diesel can be had 24 hours a day at a pump about 1.5 mile from my house. For me to get kerosene would require a 75 mile round trip to town during business hours.

I have an 85K btu Koering torpedo heater, made about 1978, works great but I never have used it alot. It is made for either diesel or Kero, but diesel stinks in it, so I only run it on K1. The first few years of its life, it was on an airport and I ran it on Jet A sump fuel from the fuel farm and the trucks.

You can use untaxed diesel as well, which makes it even cheaper. Kerosene does burn a lot cleaner.

I just picked up a DeWalt one a couple months ago. I got the 75k, but they also had 150k. It sure works good and is quieter than I expected.
