Now the permits are all done and the prep work is out of the way so maybe things will go a lot faster and get framed in before the snow really flies.

These will bring you all up to date with walls being built and should go up next week.

A little progress, all the walls are made, some are up as well as the scaffolding. It was too dark when I got home this evening for updated pictures.

My new to me lights got here from California and looking at what would have been the tops of them they are not even dusty! 12 of them at 450 watts each.

You have serious winters up there. I am not familiar with the insulation technique you used on the foundation. What purpose do the 2" x 4" battens serve? Can you take and post a couple of pictures showing the detail at the bottom plate both inside and out?

I'm guessing the bottom plate is the concrete stripe the block is sitting on (I'm not really a builder) I don't really have any good pictures but it was put on about 6-8" of gravel base then had re-rod ran around the whole base at the inner and outer sides about 1/4 if the way from each edge. The concrete was level with the side boards when done.

The battens (which I had to do a search to make sure what you meant like I said I'm no builder) they are being used for nailer strips as the vinyl siding will basically go all the way to the ground.

The insulation goes about 4ft down "to prevent cold wicking it's way to the floor from the out side ground". [edit] It covers all the outside exposed block.

Looking good. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the block/foundation work? I'm planning on building a 28"x36' garage that's on a slight slope like yours and am weighing in having it poured as opposed to block. Everyone around here (DE) has said that it would be cheaper to do block. 4" slab with 4000 PSI concrete with fiberglass filler is about 113 a yard here. 3500 PSI concrete was just 107 a yard.

I wish I could tell you a price but it's all kind of buried in the total. It was originally supposed to be a slab when the gravel was first laid down then after a little discussion it was mentioned that a deeper foundation would be better so what is now a buried (for lack of a better description) foundation it was "about $2K more".

Wow that is a really nice looking space! The view in from the front, with all of the scissor trusses is impressive.

What are your plans for the space?

The right side will have a 38' long X 13' 3" tall motor home and the left side will be a 22' rollback tow truck during the winter time Depending on cleareance issuses maybe a F350 dual rear wheel truck with plow in the center.

The door will be a 14' tall X 20' wide with a side mounted remote motor and a back up chain hoist.

Well we were moving along at a pretty good clip but when the siding started going up it looked a little odd, turns out it had four different dye lot colors, and three different textures! It's been since the end of the year with them not able to get enough siding with the same codes so needless to say nothing else is going up until they make some and what's up now has to come back down.

So with the lag in production everything has kind of shifted to the inside, the Modine heater won't be here for about another 2 weeks.
