The house I grew up in.

The trans am could either be mine or my brothers. Mine was black smokey n the bandit I painted blue and my brothers was silver I painted blue. He said if I painted it for him I could use it for the summer. (he had lost his DL)

The 1966 383 Charger was mine.

The T/A I did for my brother. Those honeycomb wheels on both cars had the rubberized coating and what a bear to strip off and re-do. Spent many a hour hand polishing and painting.

Moved from EcoBoost Thread

Someone mentioned determination to get the job done.

I think its time for a little explaining why. Having a major case of A.D.D. I can always dream up the biggest builds but so many have never been finished.

I was interested in cars and engines at a bit more than a infant. When my dad pulled into the driveway october 10 or 11 of 1965 with a brand new 1966 F100 that was a twin to this one. I thought it was the best looking vehicle I had ever seen. I would use my small allowance money to buy "turtle wax" to try to keep it nice. My dad on the other hand saw me waxing it and said "its only a truck". Never waxed it again but when he moved into a retirement home gave me the truck. It had around 85k miles on it.

Not too long after I moved from Michigan to Arizona and did not have the funds to take it with me. I sold it for 100.00 on the day before I left.

Brochure of a close twin to it.

His was a stripper model with red interior and exterior but white grille and bumper.

My plan was to build this current '66 into a twin of my dads. Its already a 352 with 3spd on the column and a base model. Complete and a very nice start. I had already started to accumulate NOS parts to do that.

Now which is typical I have totally lost my train of thought where this was meant to go . . Gotta back up a bit. LOL

Prior to being 10yrs old I would read these old comic books and even then I had pictures in my mind I would own them all some day. So on with the story . .

One of the first ones I remembered reading and just loving in the comics was a 1966 Cyclone and 1967 Cyclones with the LARGE 427 Engine.

And of course I have saved those comics all these years.

Back around 1966 or 1967 fell in love with this car.

Most of the comic books had it with a 427 Engine.

It took many many years to find one and this was it.
Owned for just shy of 15yrs. never finished the car, another dream gone. Sold it when I moved to Washington as thought I was quitting the car stuff.

Another dream car was this one. Again saw it in a comic book before 10 yrs old.

1966427FairlaneComic001_zps9fa3cefb.jpg

Here it is all torn apart down to bare metal. Factory 390 S Code.

Did not finish the car but sold it to a cousin in Michigan who actually did finish the car and still owns it. he is now in his Mid 70's

ALso notice the other cars that were never finished except for the 64 Cyclone which did not need much.

The 1970 429 Cyclone, THe 1967 427 Comet, the 1963 289 Hi-Po Fairlane, other 2 1967 Comet's.

Another dream car was a 33-34 3 window coupe. Started it and was well on the way when I decided to move to AZ. About gave it away never finished.

Of the many many cars I have finished I have seldom gotten my $$ back and lost all of my labor only to have the next guy reap the profits. I kept plugging along as that was my Hobby.

The Unfinished Big Block powered '34 Coupe.

I wanted to build it with my dad who always told him his favorite car was the 1934 Ford but he sold it to raise a family. Not long after getting going on this car my father passed away. Sad stuff.

Another dream car was this 1970 Mach 1 428 SCJ. Started it and was well on the way but again sold it when I moved to AZ. Yet another Unfinished project.

File0009.jpg

Years later I did finish this 1969 428 SCJ Mach 1. Kinda made up for the one I did not finish.

So what I am saying here is there are probably as many cars I did not finish as I actually finished. Maybe more.

At this point in my life I think after the current truck projects I will be pretty much done unless I can turn a profit in doing someone else's vehicle even then its getting difficult to do anymore.

Just today feeling exhausted and overwhelmed had the thought of wishing I just had the $$ spent on the EcoBoost project and wished I never started.

But for the simple reason pretty much knowing the eco and 427 trucks will be my last I will do all I can to at least get them running, driving. Paint work is another thing its difficult for me to do anymore.

So the determination of again not being a QUITTER and losing all my $$ and labor so far is keeping me going. Along with the encouragement from GJ.

I have already started the process of selling off a bunch of stuff. In the past year or so have sold the

1965 F250

1970 F250

1966 F600

2002 F250

Semi Trailer

Of course lost $$ on everyone of them.

Next up to go away will be the 1966 F100 pictured above. The one I dreamed about making it exact to my dads from way back when.

Just like the F600 FireTruck to Ramp truck. After realizing It would never get done I just sold it.

Today I took the blue F100 with my youngest daughter so she could pick up a trampoline she bought with her own funds. (job at 14 yrs old)

Trying to get it into a tight parking spot no power steering no power brakes is no longer fun.

So yes that long RANT I hope I made the point why I am so determined to finish these last two trucks. (Projects)

Especially the Eco being way over my head as have never made an attempt to do anything like this. Each and every time I have steered away from a stock restoration I have never finished it.

One last project to finish after the trucks.

My dad bought this scooter a 1955 montgomery wards that will be 51 years ago this spring. I told myself I will have it restored for when my kids turn 7 like I was when my dad bought it for me. (my youngest is now 14)
