I am up for suggestions in my shop. I built my shop from recycling other old buildings. It was a great way to get a decent and economical shop. When I built the shop I poured a concrete floor, I built 2x4 stick walls, I used old barn siding for the inside walls. On the ceiling I put oak 2x4s 12 feet long up. I then put old roofing tin for the ceiling. The problem I have with it is that in the winter its cold due the tin ceiling. And in the summer its hot in there. As far as the insulation I had lots of old styrofoam pieces I just threw up there.
I have been thinking about doing the ceiling different. I am wondering if I seal up the tin a little better,put a few more screws in to hold it up better. Then I was thinking about going up and laying some rolls of fiberglass insulation up there as well. The other thought is to pull the tin all down and then put 4x8 sheets of styrofoam and seal it better. Is there anyone here that put tin up for a ceiling and if so how did you fix it to keep heat in the winter and cool in the summer. I heat with a wood stove and cool with windows and fans in the summer. I don't use flammables in the winter. I like the look of the tin because it goes good with the rustic look of my shop. Here is a picture of my shops roof. It is towards my homemade air filter. The filter is held up with stainless steel cable you can't see in the pic.
