Like a lot of us, I just had a last minute thought before I seal my floor today. I'm using a water base penetrating sealer on my new slab that has been curing now for over a month. Has anyone done it, or know what the end result would be, if I was to dump a bottle of RIT dye or a powder dye into the bucket and mixed it up? Google was not much help, but I can't help but think this has to have been thought of before. Would it compromise a penetrating sealers effectiveness? Would it wear poorly? Would it be a total disaster? I have a feeling, it would not be a great Idea, but what do I know.:dunno: Either way, the floor is getting sealed by the time I go to bed tonight.:rocker:

It will likely stay on the surface while the sealer penetrates and leaves it behind.

The material will scuff right off.

Yep, that's exactly what It did. I didn't get an answer on it Sunday, so I waited until Monday to call the Manufacturer. They said they didn't know what results I would get, but it wouldn't compromise the sealing properties, so I tried it. I worked my *** off on it, only to wipe it right off after it dried. Live and learn.

We have a new wb stain that does a great job for projects like this. The difference is the size of the colorant, smaller the better.
