I noticed this as well. I decided to try to clean it up a bit and got almost no sparks which I believe means low carbon steel. Oh, well. It’s not like this thing needs to be high quality. Tiny hammer only good for tiny nails. Not the best casting in the world, from the looks of it. Nice momento though.
I hunted for a sec and didn’t find anything. I don’t expect to after determining its low quality. Seeing it useful again will make Mom happy though so it’s worth the effort.I think ATF is Japan right
I don't know. I think it looks pretty nice.My first attempt at a handle. It isn’t perfect but for a low quality, tiny hammer, it seems appropriate.
Anyone good at determining wood species? The handle came from an estate sale and was very old & dry. I finished it with one coat of linseed oil.
Hammer head was sanded to remove pitting and casting lines then treated with Birchwood Casey.
