Curiosity got the best of me. Picked one up.

I've never used a Li-ion to jump start a car. WIll be intentionally draining my DD to see how well these work.

LOL @ their claim of being able to jump a car 15 times on one charge. Not in freezing temps on a dead battery...

From SlickDeals and it's still active? They must have sold 100,000 of them...

Surprises me too. Maybe everyone is off for the holidays and their computer system is accepting 10,000's of orders without knowing there are only 20 in inventory. :lol_hitti

Funny I see this. Just last night, I ordered a Suaoki U10 800A Peak 20000mAh Jump Starter from Amazon for $80.

My wife already has a jump pack much like the one posted by the OP, and it's already paid for itself several times over (in fact, it jumped my Accord just a few minutes ago), but I was concerned about the smaller packs not being able to start the 6 cylinder engine in my Wrangler, so I wanted something a little bigger as my second.

Ordered one. Ive been eyeing the lithium packs for awhile but they all have almost as many 1-3 star ratings as they do 4-5. At $35 I want to see for myself how they do.

From the testing I've seen on other units, most of this type will put out 240 amps for a several seconds. Some detect overheating and shut down safely, but if you try to test what it will do and start your car 10 times, expect to see the magic smoke released.

OTOH I absolutely plan to do a few charge and discharge cycles to break mine in and test the basic operation.

I bet they sold a ton of these, just too good of deal, but the vendor is the manufacturer so not worried, other than maybe some delays.

Ordered one for the family vehicle, hopefully it'll work well. No more worries of them getting stranded.

Thanks for the heads up.

So there is a bigger one on sale after coupon for 49.49. Wonder if its worth canceling my order and getting the bigger one? I already have the Astro 7785 for my diesel F250. The new one will be for my fiancé.

If you really intend to keep this in the car as a backup then bigger is better.

As with all batteries capacity is reduced with temperature. If the jumper is in the glove box when it's 0F and the car won't start, well, you get the idea. You get enough cold weather in Philly where that should be a consideration.
