I did a search on GJ but didn’t find a discussion on this vise

But here is what I got for $16. I took it apart and put some grease on the screw and contact areas.

I know there are tiny vises like these but the jaw on this rotates.

I have the same vice bought it a month ago to replace this tiny old vice in my truck. Have yet to need it and take it out of the box yet, so I decided to set it up while typing this comment and replace this little vice that’s worked......7adce502b22c358a3011549beed42532.jpg9d374226d81dd13df3e2a0cff7a0b81c.jpg

Thanks for posting that! I'm in! I don't have big area to mount a vise that is a perfect size.

I have a little clamp type vise out in my garden shed that looks a lot like your old one...

I do like the usefulness of the Central Forge, swivel, double jaws and the notched cut outs.

Thinking maybe I stock a few on tool table this summer

I have one like Jazz sports and it's far from junk. In fact in a storeroom shop it's near perfect. I move it it around on a chunk of plywood as needed around the house also.

Those are handy little guys, I have three of them floating around. I keep two on the folding table just like you have yours there, it's nice to setup odd angles. I like to weld a 10mm nut on the front to spin it quickly in and out when I'm working with multiple parts.

Nice looking little vise. Looks handy.

But, you've made me feel bad. I bought this little vise for $10 at an estate sale recently. For just a bit more, could have had a brand new one instead.

I prefer the old one, even if it's not collector quality.

SSdave, I have been beating the living hell out of a vise just like your estate sale find more than a decade
Those are tough little guys in regular use.

You won't be hating it as a light duty unit. I mounted mine do it tears off the bench before bending the vise. The bench is cheaper to fix.

So do I. It's not exactly my first or only vise, I bought it because I really like the configuration, not because I needed a vise.

However, if I didn't have several other vises, that small one the OP posted would be nice.

Yep, it's a nice lookin little vise.

I know there are tiny vises like these but the jaw on this rotates.

I purchased the exact same blue swivel vise from Harbor Freight about four months ago, and have not had good luck with it. When I attempted to use it for the second time about two weeks ago, the lower clamping arm of the casting broke off when I was attaching it to the very same portable welding table as shown in your picture.

Sadly, this vise wasn't even able to withstand a normal amount of torque from simple and conventional hand-tightening. I couldn't return it for a replacement, because it was two weeks past Harbor Freight's ninety-day return policy when it broke.

In order to make it usable, I ground down the remainder of the clamping arm in order to make it flush with the bottom of the lower swivel base. (Now it can be screw-mounted most anywhere) This wasn't an optimum solution for me however, because I already have a stationary bench-mounted vise that I use for most things. This little swivel vise was purchased for its features and ease of portability between various locations, the latter of which is now compromised. That being said, I got the thing for $14.99 with a 25% off coupon, so I might take a chance on buying another one...

I picked up one last night. It seems to be fairly well made especially considering the $16 price I paid. The jaws line up square and even which is far better than a lot of vises. After I make sure it is going to work ok I will hit with some red paint so it matches everything else in my shop.

When I was at HF last night, I looked at the other vises as well. The vises are something I have always ignored at HF. How is the big 5" vise?

So how are these little vises holding up under use? Anyone have more feedback?

They sure look purty in the pictures :D

Uniquely there seems to be no other one like it with all the angles for holding things for like blade sharpening and maybe bench soldering I am really thinking about using my 25% off coupon on one tomorrow. So I was just reading over all the online reviews

AND I always start with the negatives...trying to weed the out the pure abuse like the one where the reviewer said they were trying to bend 1/2 rebar in this little clamp on vise when it broke  or the one where other reviewers said it broke when they tried to press straight some bent angle iron or use it press crimp off battery cables.

Now the one common theme though it seems is breaking off the base and I guess that's from severely over tightening it. I had a screw mount vise before sometimes its hard to get them from moving around slightly. :dunno:

I will be honest.
When I took it apart the castings are full of pores in some places. The screw is rather light duty more so than the clamp screw.
I bought it for holding pieces to be soldered and tig weld together.

Yea^^^

Well finally got around to getting myself. Seems to work just fine, jaws line up well rotates an locks good and clamps securely to the table. I did open a couple boxes to inspect them they were all about the same (basic HF Chinese quality), And even the paint job doesn't look bad at all.

So as long it doesn't just break for some reason (like poor casting) I'm good with it too, and really I don't anticipate pressing out bearings or wailing on it with a big hammer :D

Just to hold small parts and get a good angle on them when I sit at my workbench
