S2 indeed. Plan is to get it on club plates asap so I can enjoy it
After that I'm still debating. The options being keep it reasonably stock with some nice go fast bits and aesthetic changes, or go for a full on group c/imsa build to provide some period correct competition for my mates planned 911 RS build

Wow, long time between updates. Various life changes and interruptions in the meantime. Council approved the plans with zero alterations or conditions, which is nearly unheard of for Yarra Ranges council. Currently waiting on the engineered drawings for the retaining wall, slab and framing to get the building permit and hopefully get started on building. RX7 moved into a slightly cheaper storage option closer to home, but I can't do any work on it where it is, it is on club registration now though. Looking forward to being able to bring it home to the new 6x9x4 garage once it's built, big plans for the 7 *cough*IMSA*cough*

That's a good question... everything is currently with the engineer to get the building permit. I don't even have a time Iine for that bit at the moment lol. I'd like to say done by the end of next year but I just don't know at this stage.

Just read your thread and sounds interesting...lots of work ahead.
Very hilly terrain! Wow, be careful!
I am also a RX7 fan, use to own one in 1990's....mine was a 1980, if I remember correctly. That RX 7 was like a rocket around the corners and cloverleaf expressway "on ramps"... it hugged the road like it was on rails! Great road course racer.

Hope you get her running without burning oil. ...those rotary engine seals were why I sold it and bought a Mustang.

Sabbath, I've strategic requested that the roof of the garage be level with the deck/floor level of the house, for purely aesthetic reasons of course... We'll see what the future brings The people further down the hill may not take too kindly to hitting golf balls at them though

Hi Crispy, great to see some progress. I dont live far from you and we have had similar battles over the last 5 years, and about to start some more.
We can see the transmission towers on Mt Dandenong from our roof, from the south so I'm guessing your somewhere in between.

An update at last - should have the engineering drawings by next Tuesday, which is about a month after the last ETA... but hey, it's progress.

I've completed my Construction Industry Induction (White Card) training, which allows me to Owner Build.
It's a bit disappointing as I've had a nice long holiday over Christmas, but haven't been able to do anything.

In terms of the small workshop I've been cleaning it out and trying to get a small CNC machine up and running. I've decided I'll replace my bench top which is currently chipboard, with laminated rubber wood from Bunnings. Hopefully will make at least a little progress there before returning to work.

Hey guys, funny you should bump this. Work literally only started last week. It's been a crazy year of trying find decent engineers to actually get this build without ridiculous expense in foundations.

Found a team to construct the sub floor of the extension and the retaining wall and this is how it's looks today

Is this the level area for your shed or a parking area. How did you make any progress last week with all of the rain we have been getting.

The team I've got managed to get all the ground works done before the rain hit, looked like this for quite a while. I could definitely done without the rain while there was not much holding the house up

Today's rain has made a bit of a mess again

Luckily only a couple of my holes hit rock at the 1600mm depth.

Cheers Ken, I've got an amendment going through at the moment to revise some windows and the exterior finish, so I'm hoping that goes through just as easily. Aiming for a lighter colour to reduce summer cooling costs.

I'm told the sub-floor and retaining wall will be all done on Monday, so I'll be jumping up to check out what the bedroom view is going to look like next week

Thanks for the second pic, now it all makes sense. When you dig footings or stump holes it does not matter what time of the year, it will rain, heaps, filling your holes completely just to annoy you.
We had exactly the same problem, had all the footings dug for our house and they filled with water before the concrete. Then 14 years later my shed area was leveled, had 16 holes all 600mm dia and from 1.2 to 2.4m deep, no run off so they all filled up, we had to pump them all out before filling with concrete.

So the new shed is the same level as the base of the retaining wall and the new steel frame beside the house in the house extension. Looks like you may have a bit of "Storage" area under there.

Thanks Terrick. Managed to get it wrapped before christmas with a temporary roof. Hoping to get the inspection signed off and the extension clad early in the new year.

Re: Getting into the garage, there's more room than shown, pretty easy to get into and also turn around with the space I have. The garage is replacing a carport that was in the same spot.
