Now that I'm back in school and taking two stick welding classes, my boot soles are getting full of slag again. I forgot how messy that stuff is. Anybody have tips for preventing or removing it? I know, the first tip is not to step on it (kind of unavoidable). I spent half an hour last night digging it out with needle nose pliers.
***** to forget your boots are full of metal when you walk on someone's wood floors.

Non issue IMO -- you ought to have work boots and street shoes -- Even in high school, I never wore the work boots away from the work -- they also should provide you with some sort of locker where you can keep the work boots.....

The far side of crazy.. but sometimes Australia
I used to change my boots for my sneakers in the carpark and leave my boots in my car (oh to be 17 and grinding out welding repairs on dump trucks again...) If youre caught out and visiting in your work boots, take them off before you walk inside your hosts house.

X3 for changing, I keep street shoes, running shoes and second pair boots and change of clothes behind the seat in my truck. Mostly just in case but welding boots only get worn to the shop and back to my truck. They are worse then a lead foot, my last pair that leather rotted out on were 7lbs with half the leather burnt away.

I already have a second pair and am leaning towards changing them as required. The other day I forgot to check and walked into my parents house, slag on wood floors isn't nice.
