This is a timed tip that started in the 1st Quarter of 2019 (Jan.1st) and it will last till (March 31st) 2019. This tip is under the new deals at your Napa tool store and also online. The reason for not leaving a link is that it will not be good after March the 31st, of this year.

An 8pc. Carlyle Screwdriver set #CHTSDS8 is on sale for only $21.99 and that is a very good deal for these screwdrivers.

I am not sure what the following means (having never studied the properties of Metal) but they say it is made out of SVCM special alloy material for durability and longer life. Maybe someone on the GJ can tell us what those letters stand for ?

Anyhow I will leave you with a few links and a few pictures and now for the rest of the post story.

The Good:

They have a magnetic tip which comes in handy, a comfort grip, a bolster hole for more torque, and each screwdriver comes with a hex bolster should you need to get a wrench on there; along with that each screwdriver is clearly marked on the cap of each with their size. The nice thing about this brand is they have a Lifetime Warranty and should they ever break Napa will make good on it.

The Bad:

Some GJ members will not buy or look at anything made overseas and these are made in Taiwan so this tip will not be for those GJ members. They will roll away from you so be warned. I am not sure what special coating they are using and if I was a betting man (don't tell the wife), I would think (key word here) that if left outside for any amount of time these babies would rust sooner then later as opposed to something with a full chrome finish. I also suspect that any powerful cleaners will take off some of the writing on the cap parts and maybe fade the writing on the shanks as well.

So there you have it, and by now I would think having talked enough about Carlyle products on the GJ most members can trust their prodcts.

I'm really curious about the strategy NAPA is using for their pricing of these. Seems like they are offering them as a way to try to bring people to the Carlyle line.

I do not get hung up on COO. There are some quality tools coming out of all places with good warranty that is honored. With that being said some of the carlyle items are indeed pricey. I would not consider them at retail. They do offer lots of monthly or quarterly sales and seem to be very fair prices at that time.

How? My Tekton are durable, have a great assortment of sizes, similar price, better handle (imo) and USA made to boot. Failing to see how they are better

NAPA's Carlyle line of tools has been around for about six years now. I think NAPA just went to their suppliers as they probably do often and said what tools can we put on sale this quarter? Screwdrivers and the two foot 1/2 drive ratchet were a couple of the best deals. I have to say the that I'm not a fan of the Carlyle screwdriver though, I don't care for the handle shape but I also loathe the snap on instinct handle too. I'm ok with Tekton's screwdriver handle though. On a side note, Powerbuilt Pro has the same screwdriver shape as Carlyle but, in a different color scheme.

At that price I'll pick up a set just to keep from having to run out to the shed when I need something other than a #2 Phillips.

I ended up buying three sets; one for me and two for gifts. These are pretty nice, especially at this price.

Wish the Napa site was more user friendly. I don’t have a local Napa and the ones close don’t carry much inventory

I recently picked up a few ratchets, 3 piece wire cutters, stool, gearwrench ratcheting wrench sets and these screwdrivers from Napa and so far very impressed with the quality. Two downsides would be that I don’t think they would be a good deal at their normal list prices and any warranty issues must be accompanied by the original sales receipt.

The Caryles have a hex on the shaft so you can use a wrench for more leverage. Hole in the handle can be used to make them into T handles for more leverage as well.

Personal preference if those features add value for you.

I get it but if I need more torque than my hand provides on a Phillips head then I'll bust the impact driver out. I do understand that some people don't have that option though
