Just be careful. If you're into off-roading, 300lbs isn't as much as you think it is, when it comes to wheels and tires. :eek:

All the weight of the load is on those four bolts in shear stress. I'd use Grade 8s if the rack doesn't come with them.

It's a great deal compared to the commonly-used one sold by Tire Rack ($130 at TR versus $40 here). And it would be pretty easy to mount it in a way that would make it much stronger than the 300# weight limit would suggest.

Still, it's a pretty straightforward project to DIY.
