I have two sets of summer/winter tires. One set for my pickup, one set for my car. I would like to make some sort of rack for these to get them off floor and free up some floor space.

Pictures or links to how you store tires would be much appreciated,.

I have 3 of these mounted to the back wall of the shop.

Paid $30ea on sale at Canadian Tire.

You could probably find some similar down in your neck of the woods at similar retailers.

New Age Versa rack from Lowes or HD on sale. Hangs from ceiling. Wall tire rack is easier to use if you have the wall space. A wheel and tire might be 50 lbs. Lifting them up high gets old fast.

I have four or five sets of tires that I store, one set of winter/summer changeover for each car, and a set of autocross wheels/tires.

So I built a tire shrine in my (currently wall-free) shed. 2x4s running vertically, 2 feet apart (front/back), and black pipe running horizontally through the 2x4s, providing a cradle for the tires. The wood holds the pipe at the right height and keeps them spread to the right span. The setup takes 6 sets of tires, three on each side, with a third set of 2x4s in the middle for additional support.

I noticed on the amazon ad if you pick a pack of 2 it's $147.15! wtf why would you do that and not just buy 1 twice at $39.15??

1 .........................Pack of 2...........Pack of 3
$39.15.................$147.15............$221.14

To free up the floor space the rack needs to be high on the wall --- found my summer tires too big and heavy to lift up by myself. Keep that in mind. Also -- some the racks are cheap and flex ... if you go that route make sure you can return.

The tire garages do work -- TR sells them for around $50. I have two that are outside/covered ... not in the open air.
