Is there a standard pipe thread size that will fit on a tire valve stem? 1/8" NPT seems too big. Would there be something else?

What are trying to do?

Trying to be creative. and cheap! :lol_hitti

I have had some success with seating beads on smaller tires by removing the valve core on the tire, and directly applying an air quick connect to the valve stem. However, some valve stems are not long enough to open the flow on the quick connect. Trying to make the valve stem longer. I haven't explored actual valve stem extensions yet; there's probably one out there that would work for me.

I kinda like the bike pump hose idea.

The trick is getting the valve core back in without losing the bead seat. ;-)

I guess there's always ether.

On my MC tires, I take out the valve core and use my blow gun into the valve stem to inflate. Once the bead seats, just put the core back in and use the tire valve to inflate.

I've always wondered why August Schrader picked such an odd size.
Amazing our cars use a part that is basically unchanged from 1891.

Looks like the recapper plug is exactly what the op is looking for. I am reminded that I need another. Mine has disappeared.

HF air accessories kit use to have a female valve stem thread x female 1/4 npt thread included in them. it had to be unscrewed from another part. I made a half a dozen blow thru attachments to pop up truck tires from them. Pop tire, leave air hose on for 100 lbs or so, un chuck air hose and install valve core thru attachment remove attachment, finish airing.

I'll have to try that!

You don't even need that. I just use a clamp-on air fitting with the internal valve removed. Does exactly what you want. Cost me a couple of bucks. These fittings unscrew from the middle and the check valve piece falls out.
