Tired socket set

My Craftsman socket set needs to be retired 1/4 3/8 1/2" set, had it for ever. It's really troublesome trying to read the sizes on the smaller pc's and reluctantly need to move on. Opened my mouth and wifey went out and purchased a Milwaukee set, I'm sure it's probably a really nice set and don't want to sound ungrateful but this set is way more than I could ever use. Not needing a snap-on quality set but a decent set that you can use by weekly and get replacment pcs, Wondering if any thoughts out there, or suggestions maybe ? Thanks

If the only issue with the Craftsman set is that you can't read the sizes. I recommend getting eyeglasses or upgrading your eyeglass prescription. Labels work but, you could also clean out the socket size marking with brakekleen, then go over the size marking with a paint pen in the color of your choice to make the size markings stand out better.
However, I think four.cycle posted the best idea.

Tekton would fit the bill. they have sets and sell each piece individually.

But if Milwaukee is better than you want. walmart sells tools that are probably not that great :dunno:

Newer glasses, thanks and I approached Sears way back when and at the time it was Craftsman or Snap-on which was and still is out of my pay grade. So taking a second look at the socket issues, and the Zeus idea is the smarter route of all. Giving it a try and as he pointed out U.S.A.. Pretty sure Milwaukee will still be here in a couple of weeks and the square headed sockets, I don't no, seems more like a hindrance than a benefit

Wait, the Milwaukee set is too much?
They're a decent homeowner grade set.
Say thanks again and go out them to work. 👍🏻

Thoughtful wife! That's love so use them and you'll both be happy. Most of us don't mind duplicates so get some stickers as mentioned. Then the spare ratchets that you likely have can be used too.

I would not retire that Craftsman socket set! Get the foil "size" stickers.

IF you really do want to retire the set and they are made in USA, I'd be interested in buying them.
What Zeus said. I put stickers on mine. Easy to read and a lot cheaper than new socket sets. As long as the old C-Mans aren't rounding off fasteners, keep them, get some stickers.
