Titan wrench warranty?

Yep, googled and searched the forum first.

Can't find anyone (recently) talking about how to warranty a Titan wrench.

12605 1/2 ratcheting, that is locked solid, no longer ratchets. Not "tool abuse" zero marks on the tool, only used hand force.

From looking around online, it seems Titan actually doesn't offer a transparent "lifetime" or even "limited lifetime" warranty. Nothing. This makes them a massive outlier considering they essentially sell a re-branded GearWrench. Not a brand I would continue to support.

Can anyone confirm if they offer any sort of warranty? I originally purchased at an independent hardware store (Marshall's Industrial Hardware) so no warranty help there.

I googled and see that Home Depot will sell it to you via special order. And on their website, it states " lifetime warranty excludes abuse." Any possibility I could pay and send it to the store, then get a refund and swap mine? No way someone in retail Home Depot returns counter would go for that...

Finally found this on their website:

"Our products are free from defects in material and workmanship under normal usage. If such a defect is found, the purchaser at retail may return the product, within 90 days from date of purchase, with a sales receipt to the original place of purchase for a replacement. After 90 days and up to one year call our customer service department at 800-368-0191 for parts availability and service support."

So basically these guys sell the same Taiwanese wrenches as everyone else (Craftsman, Husky, GearWrench, etc etc) for the same price, but with a 90 day warranty. Avoid their tools like the plague. 90 days is pathetic and an insult to the end user for a Asian tool that costs them $0.10 to produce.

You might try the phone number anyway; if you're nice they may stand behind their product. But I agree, that's a really lame warranty.

I think I have one rail of Titan, the large hex bit 1/2" drive set. I've never had to warranty one, and given their use (removing fluid access plugs), I doubt I ever will.

Well hats off to Marshall's Industrial Hardware. While they were the people I bought it from, I had no receipt or proof to that effect, and they are an independent store catering to business accounts.

Over the phone I was told no worries, bring it back, we will swap it for you. Great service. I would recommend highly if you are ever in need of specialty hardware or a fitting in the San Diego area (They even sell Kennedy boxes). Closest thing to a brick and mortar McMaster Carr I've ever found.

Anyhow long story short, if you go with Titan, your best bet with warranty is the people you buy from. Make sure you ask about how they handle warranties when you purchase, and how long they have carried the product.

Good advice. It's always good to have a backup plan on the warranty.

I noticed Amazon is pushing Asurion with just about every tool purchase. I got one with my latest air die grinder, adds another 4 years to the 2 year factory warranty. LOL now my challenge is to wear it out inside of six years. But for Hardline tools with lifetime warranty I will save my money.

The replacement went well.

However, Titan has so little confidence in their product that they no longer put their name on the tool at all. My original was etched into the surface. This guy says nothing but "Chrome Vanadium" on the back. Nothing about warranty on the package.

I'll restate what I said above. There is basically no warranty on Titan tools, and their lack of branding on their own product coupled with this leads me to believe that they are essentially dollar store/gas station convenience store grade tools. Not worth even close to the $9/ea they sell for retail.

So with all of the ratcheting wrench choices available, what made you choose Titan?

What was wrong with the wrench you warrantied? How did it fail?

Here's my story with Titan - we have a few pieces at work and they work pretty well - I am talking hex and torx bits and my coworker has a couple of ratchets. We bought them all from Princess Auto which is like Canadian Harbor Freight and they take care of the warranty. I have had to replace a couple of bits in the past and it was smooth and easy. The 1/4 ratchet will get warrantied tonight or this weekend, so I can report back on that, but my opinion of them is quite postive - I have done numerous revenue jobs with my Titan hex set with very little issue.

Basically I used to work for a company that bought most of their tools from them. They gave me a company CC and let me go to town. They have 90% very high quality tools entire rack of individual Whia, Armstrong, Klein, SK, etc.

I bought these when the fine tooth ratcheting wrenches were just comming onto the scene. You couldn't walk into a HF/HD/etc and buy one. The price seemed good for the time. They felt really nice.

Anyhow fast forward a few years and 72t ratcheting wrenches are everywhere, for very very cheap if bought in multi packs. Titan now seems like the lowest end of the now very large spectrum.

Anyhow it broke under normal hand use, the ratcheting end completely locked up. They weren't used in the tech industry, just occasionally building prototypes in an electrical engineering lab.
