TL829 Flexible Joint Sealant

I am in the midst of a garage floor coating project, where I am going to put rust bullet down. For the contraction joints i purchased TL829 Flexible Joint Sealant from garage flooring llc.

so i have everything prepped and ready to go. the weather this weekend is going to be perfect for Rust bullet, and we will have the rest of the week with no rain. My goal is to put the new floor down on Saturday/Sunday.

But the challenge lies in the putting down the flexible joint sealer (and this is where i am looking for advice from those familiar with it). Tomorrow (Wednesday) is going to be in the low 50s at noon, and get to a low of 33 by around dawn on Thursday. My hope would be to take off tomorrow to put it down, in hopes it would be finished curing by saturday or sunday.

the technical data sheet says it should be applied at above 50. since it will cool down below 50 overnight, after its applied, and while it is curing. will this cause an issue, or will i be OK? will fans running help or harm?

in terms of curing since its cooler will it take longer? would it be cured by Sunday, or do i just need to do the joint sealer this weekend and find another weekend to do the rust bullet?

If we were dealing with 100% solids epoxy I would tell you not to worry about it at all. When you are dealing with a hybrid product there is a little concern about install and overnight temperatures....

To start with, when you look at the tech data bulletins on this product (unpublished) it is NOT RECOMMENDED for application below 50. If time is not of concern and you can wait, that would be awesome.

If you are going to go ahead and do the installation, bring the material inside and let it sit inside for a day and warm-up. Even with a drill mixer this stuff is impossible to mix once it cools. The bring it to the garage and mix right away.

Allow 36 hours for cure at +50 degrees. Don't count your overnight temps.

Also, if this is an attached garage and you can leave the door open today and get it warmed up in there, this will help a lot.

1st - my apologies if my post was long or made no sense. i was running on about 2-3 hours sleep after working on a project into the wee hours of the morning the night before.

as much as i want to do the rust bullet this weekend due to the perfect weather, I will have to hold off and do the joint sealant this weekend instead since the temps are just not warm enough yet.

as i learned working on Porsches, it is better to be patient, and do it once and do it right, than to rush for the sake of time and regret the poor results.

I am planning to use the TL829 product on my expansion joints. Can you tell me how the process went at your garage?

Did you smooth it level with a wide putty knife? If so, was that good enough to then finish with the first coat of flooring?

Did you diamond grind your floor? If so, did you do that step prior to this work on the expansion joints?

Overall, were you happy with the finished look - after the floor was totally finished?
