I started putting my 5/8” hole 2’x4’ table together yesterday. The shipping of the materials resulted in one box for the table and another for the short and long pieces you weld to the bottom. Assembly was very easy and things went together without any issues. I followed the instructions and used a flap disc to de-bur any places that would prevent a flush joint.

Once everything was assembled ,I used every clamp in the house to hold things together and made sure my smallest feeler gauge ( .005”) would not slip between the table and supports.

Next step was tacking the supports to the table and making sure to move around so the table doesn’t warp.

I was only able to get 1/3rd done before supper and I will continue once I return home from shift on Tuesday

The PrimeWeld 180 has been great for around the house use. It will do stick, shielded and solid wire, aluminum with the spool gun and scratch start tig

Looks good. Would love to see how flat it turns out when you're done.

I can get a .025 feeler gauge under a square I’ve had for ages on the 4’ side. The 2’ side didn’t have much for clearance. BUT, it is better than welding or assembling things on the garage floor. I bought some clamps from FireBall and they are all reel nice

Nice work - that's not bad at all. Well done. I may need to build a fixture table just to have an excuse to pick up the fireball clamps. :)

Nice work, glad you posted your project as these style of tables are getting more popular.

I have a 48x96x8 Tab n Slot version that I just got completed. Honestly it was pretty good, no real issues considering the size.
However I did have to shim the perimeter of the table with razorblades to achieve < .010" over the entire surface. Used J bolt concrete anchors for my clamping, worked well. Very happy with the overall product, the cost was significantly higher tho.

hopefully the table and clamps will allow for an easier time with some projects around the house

setting things up on sawhorses or a tailgate will be convenient and standing the fixture table up against the wall when not in use will keep my garage less cluttered

Link to your table?

Also know as Certiflat / Weldtables.com - who I ordered from
Fab Block 48x96x8 - ~$3200 on sale

Took some time to dial in but overall happy with the experience and product

Next time I would probably not go 8" thick, as it makes it hard to store things under and leg clearance. But it is VERY rigid.

Very nice! I like your lifting/locking table support! Did you use ACME thread?

Will do @1redTA
I built a rotisserie to weld mine up
At the time I thought it was overkill, but ended up being invaluable. My top alone is 800lbs tho, different story.
There was(is?) a sale at Stronghand tools for the fixture clamps and other goodies

Also worth checking out of the newest style of fixture clamps- built for thinner material tables like ours

They feature a horn instead of a long plug
Look to be effective

Got mine welded up yesterday. Not sure if it's because I was not taking my time with letting the welds cool down, or just putting on too many welds so too much heat (I did more than what the video was, which I should have reviewed again beforehand, but not really any more than 1redTA's) but the table is warped. Using a precision straight edge across the top, some portions are pretty good, others there is some pretty good rocking. I guess my advice is just take your time when you weld it up so it's not too hot (I was in a rush, I think that's prob the cause).
