440 Combination wrenches- Beautiful tools. Ridiculously strong. The fat fishbelly shank makes them easier on the hand, but I don't know by how much. The case is very interesting, but I think might take some getting used to.
I figured it probably would but ever since I first saw them online they have had me intriqued. Thanky ou for the help

Here's what I found on the 440s... as much as I like Facom, I don't know if I'm all that impressed with these wrenches. Is this a Stanley thing?

Nope, pure Facom thing. Facom won't even let Stanley produce these- Stanley doesn't have the capability for the polishing and finishing that 440 profile requires. To be fair, most manufacturers don't.
I don't know what these are going for on Ebay, but since they are a new Facom line, I can't imagine that they are cheap. They use a bit more steel than a traditional profile, and this is a very rough time for steel prices.
I found a website with a 16 piece set 6-24mm for roughly 130 dollars before vat but I emailed them and they ship to the u.s and I dont have to pay vat whatever that is, vat would of raised the price something like 50 bucks

$130 sounds like a good deal depending on shipping. That was $130 U.S. dollars, right? If it was pounds it would be much more due to the weak dollar.....probably in the $230 + range. That's still not bad considering a set of long pattern SK in the same sizes would be close to that price.

As for these wrenches, they look to be a good idea. i've never tried this kind of "ratcheting" wrenches except on the display. i wonder if they hold any ground on rounded/rusted nuts. for me, i've yet to have a problem using standard combination wrenches.
only real "need" i'd have for this kind of wrench would be for adjust track rods on cars with steering racks for alignment. it would make it much quicker and easier.
it is 130 U.S dollars I do not remember how much it was in pounds

the 404 will replace the 40 series
they got such good reviews on it there replacing the 40 series with it.
the 404 can only be bought in sets until there done phaseing out 40 series.
My friend will have it on his site tm..
it looks like around $96 +shipping for the 12 piece set. $65 + shipping for 9 peice set

The pictures in the link do not do those wrenches justice. They are very good looking tools.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^Sorry, the shape of those simply looses me, I simply do not find the design asthetically appealing, though I am sure they are a damned nice tool. I can easily see good design lines even in the roughest and rustiest of tools, but plate and shine cannot cover what to me is a lack of appealing design.

I've never had a problem with "normal" wrenches. they work fine for me.

They are, in fact, already available individually. I haven't pushed the button yet, because I've barely been in the garage in weeks, but I plan to try one in my most abused size (13mm, required to adjust my lawnmower) and see how I get on I'll report back.
I'm slightly troubled by their not proudly proclaiming 'Made in France/the EU' I do hope the evil empire hasn't outsourced the fixed wrenches - the ratchet wrenches (like most others) are already Taiwanese, although I can't knock the quality.
