I have built a 44 x 28 garage and am still deciding how I want to finish it out. The question I want to ask is should I go ahead and finish the floor now or wait until all the trade are done? I can see some pros and cons for each. Thanks for the thoughts.

If there's any really heavy work still to be done (equipment installation, work where they might be using high-lifts or forklifts) or any messy work (plastering, texturing, painting with something other than latex), you might want to wait. If only light-duty stuff remains (painting or wall work on ladders and scaffolds, electrical, plumbing etc.) you can go ahead and do it now, weather permitting. I'd allow at least 30 days cure time before you do anything that might scrape, scuff or lay paint/plaster stuff on the floor that will need to be scrubbed away.

Also make sure you have allowed enough time for the floor to cure. I kept stuff off my floor for about 2 months due to Active Duty, but at least a few weeks.

Thanks Nitro
I've already let it cure for 45 days. I still need to plumb and finish out the electrical. Then insulate and finish the walls. I am planning to install a two post lift in the center bay Need to hang the lights and other assorted items. Then install hvac system. That should about do it except for cabinets and workbenches. Logic tells me that it should be durable enought to withstand this work or else I wouldn't want it anyway. The floor will probably never be easier to prep than it is right now. Bare. Make sense to anyone else?

I did my garage floor last fall in epoxy. My only tip is NOT to do it when it is humid. Epoxy does not react well with water and anywhere moisture is present, the epoxy will take on a whitish/gray color. Moisture coming up through cracks, etc. Make CERTAIN the floor is totally and completely dry prior to application.

Everything should be fine (do light work from walk-on time through at least 15-30 days of full cure) but I'd do the lift last and use cardboard and ply floor protectors while you move the pieces into place. You're right in that if it can't take that kind of use it's the wrong choice for a garage floor! Just don't rush it and mess up the coating by putting too much stress on it too early in the cure.
