Here's a run through mine:

It's setup more for household stuff rather than automotive but I've found it incredibly handy, even just around my own home, saving me trips out to the garage when working on something inside, I can just grab the bag and have 95% of what I need.

Just started throwing this 'to go' box together today for the new SXS. Only have about 25% of the stuff I plan to cram in it at the moment. Got lazy and started drinking whiskey instead of finishing. Weight? Not sure...it is already squatting the *** end of the Ranger so I will have to crank up the preload on the shocks it looks like.

My other to go box has a F250 frame under it with a V10 and a 6 speed

Old picture, but this is still pretty much my current set up.

This lot packs into a .50” ammo box, which is about as big / heavy as I want to go, but is durable and waterproof.

I normally carry the ammo box in a plastic crate, together with a “consumables” box, and a bigger hammer and pry bar.

I have two boxes I use as my portable kits.

The most basic one is the one I keep in my car, and I use it primarily to assemble furniture at my in-laws it seems haha.

The box is the “legendary” Snap-on KRA-65B. I removed the lock cylinder so I could fit more tools and I also drilled out and replaced the original latch mechanism with a butterfly latch so it isn’t on a hair trigger anymore.

Inside is a fairly basic kit of mechanical service tools. I have a full 1/4” drive socket setup, deep/shallow in metric and inch. I also have an assortment of 1/4” drive ratchets and extensions. For 3/8” drive I have a Snap-on FL80 ratchet and inch set of semi-deep sockets. For wrenches I have a set of Snap-on DOE inch wrenches and a SK 10” adjustable. I typically work on inch based industrial machinery so I don’t bother with metric 3/8” sockets and wrenches.

The Whia multi bit driver has a whole assortment of bits in the handle.

I also have a Stanley utility knife, SO hook and pick set, Eklind folding hex wrench sets, and some assorted bit driver adapters. I also carry a couple countersinks and a couple punches and chisels. I used to have a tiny hammer in here but I don’t know where it went.

There is a pair of Snap-on needle nose pliers with cutters in there and a Lennox vari-bit.

Not sure what this box weighs but due to its size it can’t weigh much.

The big portable box is used a LOT more, and it’s very messy right now. I need to take a few hours and clean it out and re-inventory it. The box is a Snap-on UT22K and I love it. It’s VERY durable and if it’s closed sheds rain surprisingly well. I’ve accidentally left it in my pickup bed overnight just to find it rained and the tools inside bone dry.

It’s what goes with me to every job out of the shop and has a pretty decent setup of tools in it for industrial maintenance and fabrication work. The calipers don’t normally sit in there, they just happened to end up in it when we were packing up last week.

I don’t know what all is in here in total, but I can hit the highlights.

1/4 and 3/8 socket sets
DOE wrenches
8, 10 and 12” and 15” Adjustable wrenches
Assorted Vise grips

Assorted pliers, diagonals, channel locks, and wire strippers

14” aluminum pipe wrench
Screwdriver set
Indexing head prybars

16 oz ball pien, 3lb drilling, welders chipping hammers

Lots of hex wrenches and bit sockets
Files
Tap wrenches
Scissors
C clamps
Lock out tag out lock

I keep a Snickers bar in there as well, I can get hangry on a jobsite and my blood sugar thanks me.

It needs a full clean out and reorganization but I don’t have the time right now.

Probably weighs 60+ lbs loaded, I know it’s heavy. So much so I fabbed a little rolling base for and will pull it along if the floor is smooth enough.

Jobs bigger than that get a Knaack job master 4824 gang box and whatever tools I need for the job.

So my Stanley fat max was not big enough to add hardware to so I moved up to a Kennedy K 20 this thing swallows everything hole right now I’m sitting about 48 pounds.

Those KRA-65’s were a superb design.

By the time I’d realised how good they were, they had been discontinued.

I’ve got a similar set up as well. I grab this if I know I’m only going to be working on small stuff! For me, I find that lots of 1/4” hex bits are the solution to keeping things compact, but you do need to keep them organised. Bits are all PB Swiss.

Since this picture was taken I’ve added BA sockets (due to the stuff I work on), and the box has acquired a bit of junk, but otherwise the set up remains unchanged.

The Snap On 1/4” drive has been superb. It was a bit of overkill for the use I had in mind for this box, but I got a couple of deals at the time so it’s been worth it. Sockets are semi deeps.

The box is a Facom.

I made a custom tray to prevent everything rattling. This works really well and cost only my time, but I need to make a custom top tray as well, as I have to wrap up the tools on the top, which isn’t ideal!

K20s are a great classic box. A little on the heavy side compared to newer offerings but it's like locking your stuff up in a bank vault.
