I will be staying in my parents rent house until I can save enough to build my own. They have already let me put in a couple of 220 lines and extra breakers for plugs and lights. They told me I could paint it what ever color I liked. I was thinking about a dark blue bottom silver top and a black strip. Do yall think I should go ahead and paint it the way I want or some neutral color so they wont have to repaint when we move out. If yall think I should paint it are those good colors. Please show pics of what you have.

Thanks for the advice.

I can't say those would necessarily be my colors but at least it's not beige. That said, if I were you, I would get my parents permission first and then be prepared to repaint it before I moved out. Your parents will probably be the ones having to deal with the neighbors.

You might want to rethink the silver . . .

A few years ago a young couple two blocks over decided to paint their home dark purple, lime green and white. You would have thought they were selling drugs from the front porch the way some of the neighbors complained. Soon we had three purple houses (and one bright pink) in the neighborhood. All but the pink have since been repainted. Harmless fun.

I would paint it whatever colors I wanted...with the promise and intention of painting it again when you move out. Hell, ya never know, do a good enough job and your folks might be able to get more and you wont have to paint it again.

You're talking about the garage interior, right?
Sounds like a ok plan.
That silver on the top should help with reflecting light, keeping the place bright to work in.
Good luck.

That was going to be my question also......you're talking about the garage I hope.

And when you say silver, are you talking like a light gray, or are you talking silver like hillbilly chrome silver? If the latter, I would say no. If a light gray, then I would say that would be fine.

Whatever you paint it, do it with the intentions of painting a neutral color when you leave. At least your parents are letting you stay there. If it were me, I would probably paint the complete house inside before I left just to make it easy on them and keep some coin in their pocket.

And post up some pics when you get a chance.

Oh....And WELCOME to Garage Journal :hellobye:

You just got done saying you have intentions to build your own soon. Why paint anything? When you get your own garage paint it whatever color you want.

Let us know what you decide.

Every dollar you spend on the rental garage is that much less or that much longer till you get your own.

That being said, it's you cash and your parents place. If they don't mind you painting it, go for it. I'd stay with something normal, like white instead of the silver to keep from having to repaint it. If you make it nicer, your parents may be able to get more rent out of it when you are gone.

Sorry let me clarify a few things, I was not very clear in the first post. I was tired last night and didn't reread it before posting.

It is the garage interior
I won't have to pay for anything they would pay for it. I am the one rebuilding so its kind of their way of saying thanks along with letting me live there. I was worried about when I move out someone else liking it after I move.
I do like the light colors I just wanted something different. I just got done with my compressor and wanted it all to match.
I have seen some of them on here and have a little garage envy. I thought maybe some paint would help hold me over till I could get mine.

Thanks for all the input.

Are you still talking silver though vs. a shade of gray? A lot of people, including myself have galvanized corrugated tin partially or covering a wall completely, but I don't think I have ever saw a wall painted silver. Well maybe back in the '70's I did
