To Stain or Not?

Just finished up this wood burning project. It's going to be raffled off at a Fundraiser for a local children's hospital called "Jeeps At The Beach". Now I'm torn whether I should do a light stain on it or just poly it and be done. What do you guys think?

Id do some light torching to get wood grain to show up more then poly

Looks good, maybe put some oil on it. That will darken it just a little.

I'm considering using shellac to give it a bit more protection. Anyone over use shellac out of a spray can?

Shellac is touchy stuff, particularly if you can't sand your mistakes.

Then I'll just shoot some poly on to it. I wanted to protect the bark from chipping off, but don't want to take any chances. Thanks for the reply.
