I just bought a classic 78 online from snap on with my student discount. im sure itll be a few weeks before it gets here but I just had some questions.

I live in an apartment and its getting shipped there. does the tool box come fully assembled and ready to roll? that way, I can meet the delivery guy out front and just roll it in. or does it come on a pallet? or do I need to assemble it?

How do you guys transport your tool boxes? I don't work in the field yet but when I do, ill have to get it to the shop. are your boxes loaded with tools while transporting or emptied?

When I bought my matco that way 7 years ago it was shipped to the school on a pallet with a cardboard covering (showed up the wrong color but hey that's ok) all I had to do was i strap it and get it off the pallet. I had to put the drawer liners in and bolt the handle on(they forgot to include handle bolts also) I've moved mine empty in the back of my truck if there's a forklift to use. Most common way we all move them around is a small utility trailer or have a flat bed wrecker move it for you.

The tool box I have is only a 40" old craftsman chest I put tools in boxes took the drawers out of the box (makes it lighter) and can transport in the back of my jeep with the seats folded forward and the box on its back. In your case get some buddies and lug in the back of a pickup a shop normally will have a forklift/man power to unload. I definitely recommend unloading tools though.

it's been a few years since i ordered any new boxes, the wheels were on the roller cabs, i think i had to install the handle and drawer liners.

i've moved my boxes several times, when the boxes were small enough (sometimes) just removing the loaded drawers and picking them up into the back of my van or truck.

boxes got bigger, then it took a forklift to get them into the truck.

last big move was 1200 miles in a 17ft uhaul, forklifted almost everything in, used the ramp to unload the roller cabs, manhandled the mid and top boxes, with the drawers out, & floor jack for the side boxes.

possibly the easiest moves have been with top/mid boxes in the back of my truck, roller cabs & side boxes on a utility trailer.
i'm usually loading and unloading by myself, with no help.
i'm not as young as i used to be

nowadays, picking up heavy toolboxes makes me go :eyecrazy:
