There's been a guy advertising all kinds of old signs and garage/man cave stuff for a few weeks. He's about 90 min away and I was concerned that his prices were going to be high since his ad mentioned that he was thinning his collection... Today, I decided to take a ride and check it out.

Came home with some nice vintage Gulf Oil cans to match the sign I picked up earlier this week, got a few cool DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE signs and a great Fallout Shelter one too..

Tucked in the back of his shed, I spotted the piece that I really wanted.
Ended up paying about $65 for it.

It's pretty huge... you can't appreciate how big these are when they're 20 feet up on a pole.

Took me about 1/2 hour to rewire it so all the lights come on and I swapped out the INCREDIBLY BRIGHT bulbs for some 25W ones which are just perfect.

I Can't wait to get it mounted out in my barn.

The 25 watt bulbs will blow also. If your is wired like mine where they are on all the time, I think they still build up too much heat and blow. I ended up using low wattage CFL's in mine and leave it on 24/7. It's been like that for over a year now and have not blown a bulb. Even the small 25 watters are bright when they are lit. I was really surprised.

And good deal on the $65. Normally you can't find one for less than $100

Anybody know of some good-priced pieces to randomly turn the lights on? Sequencers?

I see one guy at the local car swap meet but he wants like $75.

Good to know... It'll probably only be on a few hours at a time, but CFL's sound like the way to go from an energy perspective too.

The bulbs that were in there were 145W each. I guess they're perfect to be seen from 200' away on a sunny day, but I was afraid of getting a sunburn from standing in front of it.
