Called about some "heavy duty" bench grinders on craigslist. I could tell the guy was older and in bad health (he was fighting to catch his breath throughout our conversation). He wanted all of his "shop" equipment gone and told me to bring a truck. He said he wouldn't give it away but it would go for cheap. I left the house right away (he was an hour and a half away). I arrived at his property, called him to let him know I was there (as instructed) and exited my vehicle. He came cruising up on his motorized chair hopped off and opened the gate. I greeted him and he sharply instructed me to pull up to a sea train 1/4 mile away. I decided that this would be quick. He didn't seem happy. He showed me a heavy duty swing out crane and winch he had sitting outside. I explained I was just interested in American made older tools for the average homeowner and weekend warrior. He told me to feel free to rummage. He had a lot of industrial sized wrenches and I think I counted 12 oxyac torches. I found one bench grinder surprised to see it was a Craftsman (figured it would be a heavy duty 220v model) and asked about the other. He told me it was in there somewhere. I spent an hour sorting through it. About half was household items and books. He periodically told me about certain tools he thought I would be interested in and then I think he finally realized they weren't there anymore. He lived in a rural area and I'm sure people were periodically picking through it without his knowledge. We talked about work and family and eventually called it a day. I offered 40 for the lot, he raised for 50 and I paid 60. He even gave me some sticky calendars which I put on my garage fridge. It was a good few hours.

There are some of the tools I have questions about, mostly the origin and age but if anybody notices anything don't hesitate to speak up!

Great way to spend a day. I love rummaging through old stuff and finding a few gems.
