I missed out on a wilton 8" vise for $65 and a Miller Dynasty 200DX outfit for $600! It will take me a while to get over that....

It was a garage sale. a once in a lifetime garage sale. Any idea what the welder really costs that the guy sold for $600?

That Dynasty is a +2500$ machine. You should kick yourself for that one. If I could find you, I would come kick you.

the setup he had was probably over $3000. I've been kicking myself consistently since this revelation, along with anyone who comes within kicking distance. Dog has suffered the most.

BTW the question in my last post was rhetorical. I know all too well what that welder costs. I've been lusting for a good tig for a long time now, and cost has kept me away.

Damn.

How did you miss the welder? Someone else grab it out from under you just as you approached the guy or something?

He told me it wasn't for sale (this was in the AM). I cruised back by on my way home from work, just in case, and it was gone (along with everything else. cleaned out.. just some clothes and the usual garage sale junk). he had sold it.

What you described above did happen with another tig welder that he had (esab heliarc). I wasn't nearly as broken hearted about that.

Damn, the fact that he told you it was not available and then dumped it for short money later in the day makes it worse!

Karma dictates that some other smoking deal should be coming your way before too long.

Next time ask the wife if she's in the garage. It's worked for me several times! Jost the other day guy had a socket set with two ratchets for sale in a complete POS little tool box. I asked the wife if she'd sell me just the ratchets. She yells over to the husband for approval and when he said no she gave him a look and I wound up with those ratchets!

Bull--maybe...hopefully this isn't Karma punishing me for something... I try to be good, REALLY :D

Hermit--they are marked PROTO 3818, made in USA. 9/16 ratcheting line wrenches (both are the same). cool little things.

Rickster--apparently some guy just whined and bitched and wore him down until he changed his mind. Maybe I should try to be more like a woman in the future when it comes to these matters.

Yeah, those types are all over the tag sales here...grovelling little wormy types.

Surprises me though that the guy had to be badgered to sell it, and when he finally did, he let it go for a pathetic price. He of all people must have known what it cost. :headscrat

Missing that welder would hurt.

I want a Dynasty pretty bad, but I really like atleast the 300 amp version, that I think has been replaced by a 350?

I would have certainly have bought that one for $600.00.

What is the bigger torque wrench rated at? Looks like it would be for the higher torque values.......

Cash works - especially if the wife is nearby. If it is something I really want, I compliment him on his good taste in the tools I've already picked up, promise to give them a good home and hold out the cash offer for the "not-for-sale-welder." Sometimes the sight of those $100 bills has made the sale for me.

thnx, jack vines

That is good advise indeed.

The large torque wrench is a proto 50-250 ft lbs

Imperial has them as well.

Tough luck on the welder though. It seems like there are a lot of welders for sale at the moment though I just picked up a Airco rebranded Miller Big 40 for $200.
