It took 3 guys to lift it off the bench when I bought it.... same 3 guys to lift it into my truck....

& then I get home & there's just me.... so I got it mostly out of the truck & about 5inches from the ground by myself.... then it slipped a bit.. luckily my foot broke it's fall.. :(

Your doctor can fix up your foot, but you probably can't come up with another drill press like that. Way cool.

Pssst, ZRX61, don't let everyone on to the fact that Burbank is just THE best for tool garage sales.

Something about Burbank. All these guys passing away are from the booming aerospace industry in the 50s & 60s in the valley. They all understood tools and they all had man cave garages.

I only go for the hand tools, but after seeing the picture of the drill press, I was hoping one of us would get it.

If you made this one, did you go by the one on San Gabriel in Glendale? I got there at 3 and it was cleaned out.

That was the only one I went to, I hear there's one in Granada Hills next weekend. All I know so far is they have a compressor, but I already have one.

Wow, that's a new one - Tiger Tools Model 16. In fifty years of shops and tools, I've never seen or heard of the company or that DP. Nice score. That it has the slow speed intermediate pulley is a huge plus.

Way cool drill press. Awesome, in fact. :willy_nil

Never heard of Tiger Tools, either.

All he's gotta do is call Hollywood Electric Tool Co. Their number is right on the front there... I'm sure they can provide more info. :bounce:

Edit: Curious, I looked on Google maps for that address. It's a "Holistic Medicine" shop called Hollywood THC. I don't imagine they sell Tiger Drill Presses anymore.

ZRX, you work quick! Already cleaned and painted in one day!

Blasted it twice, first time with plastic to remove the paint & other ****, then glassbead to clean it up. Wiped it down with laquer thinner & hit it with the blue Rustoleum. Hit the side & top of the slide with 220grit on the DA sander.
Buffed the ends & top of the jaw inserts on the deburring wheel. All I have to do now is hit the ends of the jaws with a 3M disc on the die grinder & reassemble it... which will probably be Monday as I'm going riding tomorrow, that will also give the paint time to kick off. :)

Re: Today's haul...Here's another Tiger

Here's another Tiger 16 drill press, this time in blue. Mine does not have the smaller Hollywood Tools decal. My late neighbor. Mac, inherited it from his uncle, Bill (Wm Ordway,) who lived in southern California.

Here's an image link:

I did a bit of 'history' searching while creating another post on the repair of the quill return spring.

thanks
